Nadia Tells Us All!

Posted on 31 July, 2013 by Faye - 2 Comments

Hey Guys!
So today we have the lovely Nadia from Total Book Nerds. She is here for you today with an interview. All of the bloggers I contacted were given the same questions as I thought it would be fun to get different opinions on the same things.
Hope you enjoy all of the questions and all of the answers.

The summer is often a great time for reading. What are five books you would recommend others to read this summer?

Summer is my favourite season, it is filled with endless of hours to read, blog and have a blast! Whew Faye, top 5 only? that’s a tough one… buuuut I have narrow it down to these 5 books that I have read this year and absolutely loved them!
#1. Leo by Mia Sheridan, this book *sigh* there are no words to describe how amazing this book is.
#2. (the third and last book in the Too Far series)
#3.
Inescapable by Amy Bartol (omg y’all, you will love The Promonition serie, it is in my top 5 favourite series of all times.)
#4. This Girl by Colleen Hoover (it is no secret, that I have sold my soul to Colleen, she owns it, I have not read one book from her, that didn’t capture my heart, all of her books break my heart and slowly pieces it back together again. This is the third and last book in the Slammed serie.)
#5. Lost & Found by Nicole Williams, this book won my heart instantly, the story line was beautifully written, the characters deep, thoughtful, gorgeous inside and out.
^ I highly recommend all of these books!

While our wishlists are already towering over, are they any new releases happening this summer that you’re really looking forward to?

YES! There are so many books getting released this summer, that I can’t wait to read! Here are few of them:
- Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton (releases July 2nd) it is the 22nd installment in the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter serie. I love everything Laurell has ever written! Her books are phenomenal, and I reread both her Anita Blake and her Merry Gentry serie once a year.
- Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover (releases July 9th) I am practically dying waiting for this book to release. I have heard so many amazing things about from fellow bloggers who got an early review copy.
- Epilogue by CJ Roberts (released June 11th), I have read the first two books in this serie, holy mindfuck, no literally these books will mindfuck you, change you, and make you ask yourself uncomfortable questions on where do your limit lie as a human being? where would you break?
- Leo’s Chance by Mia Sheridan ( released June 16th) The first book in the serie Leo, shatteredm y heart the story of two young people, who had to go through so many struggles so early in life, this book will win your heart over in no time.

Sometimes the weather can turn a little dreadful. Are they any books you would recommend to read to counteract this weather?

Oh! I know what you mean, we get dreadful rainy summers here in Denmark, like currently it is thunder, lightning and lots of annoying rain. When the weather is like this, I like to read books that makes me smile and laugh, or the books that make me feel whether it’s the sad or the good. I just love books that me invested. Here are some books that I absolutely love to read when I need a good cheering.

- Losing It by Cora Carmack, if you haven’t read this book (what rock have you lived under?!) you need to! This book is sweet, and funny beyond belief, it will make you believe again, in love, rainbows, unicorns, fluffy kittens, the whole nine yards. This book will make you laugh so hard, your cheeks will hurt. Don’t miss out on this awesome book.

- Falling into You by Jasinda Wilder, this is a book that has depth, it has some serious issues that the characters had to deal with for example, loss, pain, hurt, guilt, shame. Oh this book is a life changer, forget breaking your heart, this book will break your soul with it’s story line.

- One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy, this book is a combo, it’s has humour, wit, and hilarious moment, but it also has some serious issues, past damage that the characters have to deal with. Unimaginable hurt, struggle and pain that you feel along with the characters.

- Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens, oh! where to begin with this book? The characters will test your tolerance for them, when they break many of your moral beliefs. They will hurt each other, and the people around them and the love triangle, ouch. There is much going on in this book, and then add the rock star, bad boy element and you have a recipe for disaster.

Name your top three authors.

oh no you didn’t! Faye please tell me your not gonna make me do this… *sigh* you’re gonna make me do this aren’t you? All right! let me think about this…
I had to stop answering these questions, take 3 days, write down three different list, eat A LOT of chocolate before I could make myself pick my top three ( never doing this again, never ever!).
Here are they are TADA!
#1. Abbi Glines. Self-explanatory.
#2. Colleen Hoover, again self-explanatory.
#3. Jamie McGuire, this is a no brainer, she is beyond self-explanatory more like a “Duh, of course

When it comes to blogging, are you someone who posts spontaneously or do you schedule ahead?

I usually schedule ahead, I like having everything done and ready a while before the post gets published so I don’t have to go through the stress of making it on time for a deadline. The key word is usually, I try to schedule them, but there are times where I get confused with time difference, or lose track of time, usually because my books distract me, no really they scream “read me, Nadia!” ‘No, read me!”, “No, no, pick me! my male character is hot!” I swear, it is not my fault! They make me do it! :D Y’all know the deal, you read a book, then read another and forget what is it you were actually suppose to do. The answer to this question is, I try to schedule post, because me stressed? not pretty, seriously not pretty, imagine the Hulk meets the squirrel from Ice Age.. yeah like I said not pretty, I could give Frankenstein a run for his money :D

What are your three favourite reviews that you have written since you started blogging

Hmm.. my three favourite reviews that I have written are these three, they are not the absolutely best that I have written but they are my favourite because they show the progress I have made since starting blogging and that I am still learning to become a better reviewer.

Strength by Carrie Butler
A Life More Complete by Nikki Young
Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley

Thank you so much for the wonderful answers Nadia! It was really nice to get to know you a little better and to get some good recommendations for the summer! Have you read any of the books that Nadia recommended? Or do you think you now will?

2013 Summer Author Blitz; L.S. Broomfield Interview & Giveaway!

Posted on 30 July, 2013 by Faye - 3 Comments

Hey Guys!
So today I have for you all an interview with the lovely L. S. Broomfield as part of the 2013 Summer Author Blitz!
And at the end of it all will be a chance to win her book Cruentus: Rise to Power.

Hello L. S. and welcome to A Daydreamer’s Thoughts! Let’s start off with something easy, tell us a little something about your book(s).
Well, Cruentus: Rise to Power is staged in the late 1800′s and is centred mainly around the Cruentus and the Gallo family. The story was written mainly to give readers an understanding of where Dragos Cruentus, who will make his appearance in book 2, is coming from. It’s the tale of his parents and grandparents, with his grandfather Arturo taking center stage. That spotlight is shared by his parents, Donato and Emiliana. It’s a story of the pursuit of power, of betrayal, of innocence lost and inner strength found. It’s a society of magical beings where the supernatural both dominate and co-exist. It’s ruled by the Magia Council, or also known as the Council of Magics. Where there are boundaries, such as those set forth by society and the Magia Council, there are always ways to blur them. That’s what Arturo does. He skirts the law to get something he wants – a peasant girl, Emiliana Gallo. The Cruentus family is already powerful, a rather dominant force through the land. But no matter how much power they have, Arturo always wants more. Donato goes along with his father because Arturo will do what he wants regardless, but in this case, Donato knows something his father doesn’t. And he already loves the peasant girl. He vows he will do everything he can to have Emiliana fall in love with him. So there is a bit of a seduction and romance woven through and at the heart of this story of power and betrayal.

Every author has their own way of writing, some plan every detail, some don’t plan at all. What about you? Do you always have your ideas concrete before you start writing or do you just go with the flow?
I like to have key details in place but even those, once the character begin speaking, are subject to change. What I have in my mind throughout may not necessarily be where my characters lead me. I like the free flow atmosphere, it helps to keep the story exciting, even for myself.

Writer’s block can occur at any moment, if it’s ever happened to you, what did you do to get out of it?
I like to have key details in place but even those, once the character begin speaking, are subject to change. What I have in my mind throughout may not necessarily be where my characters lead me. I like the free flow atmosphere, it helps to keep the story exciting, even for myself.

We all have our naughty habits, what treats (if any) do you indulge in when you’re writing?
I’m going to be incredibly boring for this one I fear, but my indulgence when I write is only music. All different kinds of music. Right from Mozart to Korn. Whatever scene I am writing I will search for something that tugs at me.

Are you someone who writes better the minute the wake-up, in the middle of the day, or late at night when you should really be sleeping?
I do a lot of things better when I should be sleeping, as well as the afternoon. I’m not a morning person by any sense.

Are they any book(s) or author(s) that have inspired you to become a writer? If so, who or what were they?
I don’t believe it was any one writer or book that necessarily pulled and stirred the desire to write from within me. I do believe, however, that it was a combination of authors and books that contributed. Whether it was the possessive, dominance of J.R. Ward’s males in the BDB books or the sass and fire of J.D. Robb’s Eve Dallas, each book and author has stoked my fires of creativity.
The author I do love is a children’s author, Robert Munsch, and his book ‘I love you forever’. As a mother, that book ripped and tugged at my heart strings and left me awed that a children’s book had such a profound effect on me and thirteen years later, give or take a year, that experience has never left me.

This is one that often divides people. Are you a tea drinker or do you prefer coffee? Or is it simply that you dislike both?
I am probably among a minority here because I am neither. I may have an occasional tea, or a coffee here and there, but I won’t go out of my way for either and I don’t need either to function and kick start my day.

Do you have any ideas going on at the moment that could lead to fully-fledged novels? If yes, do you care to divulge us a little?
Currently, I am working on Cruentus book 2 that features Dragos Cruentus. If all goes well, he will be my first full length.

If you absolutely had to choose, who is your favourite character that you have ever written?
Ever written, right now is Arturo Cruentus from the Cruentus: Rise to Power book. To be written I will have to say it is Dragos Cruentus that will be book two. Book one was made so that readers would understand Dragos better, and I believe I accomplished that.

And finally, what writing advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
The greatest advice I could ever give is to believe in yourself and what you write. You, as the author, have to love your story. Be passionate about it. If you are passionate it will be felt through your words and through the story.

The next thing is to realize that it’s okay to take a break. Don’t burn yourself out and don’t force the words. It will happen, and when the words are ready, they will come. Don’t put pressure on yourself or deadlines. Those two things there will be the biggest things that will kill your story. Because if you issue deadlines and you don’t meet them, discouragement is quick on your heels. Have fun with your writing above all else.

Cruentus A prophecy of old continued to burn in the embers of time; long left dormant until the Cruentus family rose above all others as darkness ascended the lands. Greed and deception were the name of the game, and Arturo Cruentus would stop at nothing as he concocted the ultimate scheme to get everything he wanted. No price was too high. The scene was set, the pieces strategically placed. The Gallo family could not come against him, and in the end Guido and Palmiria Gallo would come out the biggest losers, watching their only daughter, Emiliana, be taken away to render a debt…

New Adult Read-a-Thon Mini-Challenge; Rewrite the Synopsis

Posted on 28 July, 2013 by Faye - 5 Comments

NAReadathon1

Hey Guys!
So today I am hosting the Rewrite the Synopsis challenge!
All you have to do is take a New Adult book that you have read (either for the read-a-thon or before it) and re-write the synopsis.
You can either comment it below or make your own post about it, but you’ll get a chance to win a prize if you do!

Example
The Secret of Ella & Micha; Original Synopsis;
The girl he thinks he loves needs to disappear. I don’t want tonight to be irreversible, so I pull away, breathing him in one last time.

Ella and Micha have been best friends since childhood, until one tragic night shatters their relationship and Ella decides to leave everything behind to start a new life at college, including Micha.

But now it’s summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home. Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to win back the girl he lost, no matter what it takes.

My Synopsis;
Hidden underneath the surface is a love so strong, it is only a matter of time before it breaks free. How long will it take for Ella to bury her feelings for him when he continues to try and pry her open? She’s ready to simply bury herself and never come out of her shell. What will happen if he finally brings everything to the surface? Will it be as brilliant as he always imagined or will he break her in ways he never expected? There’s only one way to find out…

Naturally the new synopsis doesn’t have to be amazing. Have fun with it. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

The Prize
One winner will either win a signed copy of Beautiful Disaster (UK Only) or a Book of Choice (up to £10) from TBD. (INT)

All you need to do is enter the rafflecopter below!

Cover Reveal; Secret by Brigid Kemmerer!

Posted on 27 July, 2013 by Faye - No Comments

First up, this was supposed to go live yesterday and I thought my scheduler had messed up before I realised I hadn’t actually scheduled the post but just kept it as a draft – d’oh! So, if you have already seen the cover, I apologise that this may be a boring post for you!

puzzlepiece18

Secondly, if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you should know that one of my ultimate favourite series is the Elemental series by Brigid Kemmerer and so when she was looking for people to help release her new cover, I jumped at the chance. This series is absolutely fantastic and Brigid is an incredible writer that I am insanely jealous of. If you haven’t read the series, you should definitely think about it! But if you want more convincing, here are my reviews of each book in the series;

Elemental
Storm
Fearless
Spark
Breathless
Spirit

But, as you’re here for the cover reveal… let’s reveal it!

secret (1)

Nowhere is safe. Not even home…

Nick Merrick is stretched to the breaking point.

Keep his grades sky-high or he’ll never escape his hometown.

Keep his brother’s business going or the Merricks will be out on the street.

Keep the secret of where he’s going in the evenings from his own twin—or he’ll lose his family.

Keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who’s supposed to be his “girlfriend’s” partner.

Of course there’s also the homicidal freak Quinn has taken to hanging around, and the Elemental Guide counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers. There’s a storm coming. From all sides. And then some.

Nick Merrick, can you keep it together?
