I’ve Got News!
I have some exciting news to share with you all! Exciting for me, anyway!
Next week I am starting a new job!
It’s another library job, which is brilliant, but it’s a promotion from the job I’m currently doing, and it’s in a university library.
But why am I sharing this news with you?
Because it means that my 33 hours a week job at the moment, will be changing to 36 hours a week plus I’ll be adding 4 hours to my commute too. Which, sadly means that I’m going to have less time to read and blog.
While I do not want to blog or read less, I am just letting you all know in advance that it might happen. Especially now that the weather is getting nicer so when I can read on the bus, I will probably opt for walking instead!
So just in case you wonder why I’m not posting as much, now you know.
So… here’s to something new, eh?
Woah. Sorry. Didn’t mean to shout there but I’ve got a rather important thing to tell you today that will affect the future of this blog.
So for a long while now I’ve been feeling a little deflated when it comes to this blog and I’ve tried SO MANY different things to try and spice up my enthusiasm and motivation and it never seems to stick.
WAIT. DON’T PANIC.
I didn’t, however, ever want to just stop this blog and so I’ve been trying to come up with a solution that might actually work and I think I’ve finally worked out what will work for me.
I am going to change this into a
This means that this blog will still have a high focus on books – because lets face it, I love them to the ends of the earth and back. But it will also contain lots of other different types of posts. I hope to bring you recipes, fitness tips, movie reviews, restaurant reviews, day out information… just anything that’s going on in my life that I want to talk about will be found right here on this blog.
So all I really want to say now is…
I hope you’ll stay
The first “week” of April is almost over and so it is time for me to post my updates! This linky will be open for another week so you can add your updates at a time that suits you.
To try and read eight books from the bottom of my TBR pile.
Books Read: 0
Books Started: 2
Pages Read: 27
Comments: Obviously there has only been four days of April so far and I started the month finishing the books I’d started last week. I’m hoping to get a bit more reading done this weekend as I have some days off but it’s also going to be filled with family things so it may not be possible but we shall see!
How are you doing on your goals?
We’re at the end of the third week of February and only have one week to go. I’m still not sure how that happened but there we go!
I want to try and finish three half-read books, and finish three series.
How I’m Doing
I have finished one series and completed one half-read book. I am in the middle of the last book of a second series.
I’m not doing as well as I’d hoped – my reading mojo has sort of left me this month BUT I’m okay with that as I’ve just been really busy. I would be happy if I finish two series and one half-read book so let’s see how I go next week!
Read so Far
So… how are you getting on? Let me know in the comments and/or link to your updates in the linky!
Today I am here to tell you about a few updates happening both in my life and on the blog.
So, at the moment I am currently in the midst of working three different jobs. One is almost a full time job and is one that I am finding incredibly stressful at the moment. There are a lot of reasons for this but at the moment, I am finding it difficult to find any enjoyment out of the work. Then I have a part time job where I work between 7 and 10 hours a week. This is a busy role and is definitely better than my full time job. Then I also have my freelance work which I am doing online whenever I get the chance.
So with all of that, I’ve been feeling a little strung out. I’m still trying to see my friends and still fitting in blogging and reading around it all but if you’ve been wondering about my lack of videos lately or any of my odd tweets – this is the reason for it.
At the moment I am trying to look for different jobs because I want to feel a little bit less stressed as it is really starting to affect my emotional and physical state which is never good! I also want to be able to start writing again because at the moment, I haven’t been able to find the time or motivation to do so and it is really pressing down on me.
With the above information, you may think that I’d probably be blogging less but actually I am finding that blogging is something that is helping me get through it all. It can be stressful if I don’t find the time to do something but essentially, blogging is about organisation and being in control, two things that help to keep me sane and calm me down a little bit – so I’m not going anywhere!
What’s happened recently;
You probably haven’t noticed this but over the past few months I’ve been sorting some things on the blog. I have sorted through all of my posts and corrected the categories, sorted out the tags, updated my favicon, and just generally done a lot of background organisation to keep the blog looking neat and running smoothly – which has really helped. Kind of like, a tidy kitchen is a tidy mind!
I have also created a schedule for the entire of Feb and got some posts in the work for March and April too. And with these comes some new features that will be arriving/returning to the blog, these are as follows;
Blogger Spotlight; That’s right, I’m bringing it back! I’m already sorted until April and will be contacting bloggers shortly about May and June!
Adult Book Reviews; Wait… what? Yeap! I’m reading a lot more adult books lately and because of that I have decided that I’m going to take the plunge and review them on here. So expect some of these to come your way in the next few months.
Month-Long Events; I hope to plan some more month-long events this year. In the pipeline is Finish It Feb, Spring Clean Your Reader (April), Something for July, Netgalley November and Done in December. Hope you’ll like them!
Faye’s Thoughtful Friday; I’ve been doing this for a while now but this is just to let you know that I’ll be continuing it!
Now I don’t plan to post every day, but I do hope to post at least three times a week.
So that’s all my updates and things, so to finish up…
How are you all doing?
So you may, or may not, know but in the last few months I have been working on three different projects – I know, I’m a lunatic woman! – and this month I am trying to write 30,000 words on one of those projects. I task that I am heading for with a bunch of others, a challenge that was set up by Karen Mahoney – and is officially called KazNo2013.
But, unfortunately, the last month or so, I’ve also had a bit of a writers block. It’s not so much as the ideas are not coming to me because they are, it is more that the words just aren’t coming to me – or at the very least, the motivation to write those words down. I would finish work and the idea of jumping straight back onto a computer just sort of crumples me and so instead I pick up a book or turn on the television and then I’m done for the night and hence I do not get any words written.
Thus, I thought that this challenge would be the perfect opportunity for me. I would be somehow motivated to write 30,000 words in a month. I would just sit in front of the laptop and the words would flow out of me and naturally appear on that document and I would be filled with an overwhelming sence of joy.
But it hasn’t happened… yet.
The problem? I don’t want to blame it on this entirely, but I got a full time working position. Not something I knew about before August and so now I have even less time and even less motivation to actually write. Add in the fact that I’ve had a cold which is also draining my energy every day and you’ll easily see why I just can’t find it in me to type a single word.
But really, I know this is all just an excuse. As a writer, I should be writing every day, regardless. And it kills me that I’m not because I used to. I used to write every day without fail because if I didn’t then it would feel like a part of me was missing – a bit like it does at the moment. And yet, I still can’t seem to find these words that I need to put them on the paper.
So I am writing this post today to ask for YOUR help.
When you feel like you really don’t have it in you to write, or even something else you love, how do you help to motivate yourself back into it? Is it something I should just leave and let naturally return, or should I be forcing myself to write, even if it’s just a sentence a day?
What do you think?
Today is the seventh day of the read-a-thon! Wooo!
There is still time to sign up! Just head over to this post.
Todays Mini Challenges
Everyone is likely to update their read-a-thon status in their own ways but here you can link to all of your update posts/status/lists/diagrams, etc! So all the people participating can visit your updates and cheer you on.
Don’t forget you can do updates more often on twitter using the hashtag #NARead!
So, I’m not entirely sure how this is going to look and no doubt I will need to edit it when I get on a better device! (currently on an iPad, it’s a bit odd!) but, anyhow, I am much closer to having a working laptop at my disposal and so I thought I would tell you all the things that I’ve been planning on doing on this site while I’ve been away!
Reviews to come: Hereafter by Tara Hudson
My soul to take by Rachel Vincent

Facebook: I will be adding a facebook page that can be liked and all that good stuff! I’ll update posts, giveaways and events on there so if you have a facebook feel free to like it when I get it completed! =]
Button: That’s right! I’m going to be making myself a button! This one may be the longest update as I may have to wait until I get my own laptop but this is definitely in the mix to be made! =]
AND FINALLY!: I’m going to be hosting my first ever giveaway! As you have all stuck with me during this difficult period and because christmas is around the corner and I’ve nearly got 50 GFC followers, I figured it was time that I started giving back! It will only be something small as it IS Christmas and I have a very large and hence expensive family! Hehe.
So yes, that’s everything! It has been too long without the blogger world to keep me coming and I cannot wait to get active again!
Thank you so much for following and for your patience!
