Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new topic is given and this weeks topic is Ten Things to be Thankful For.
Even though they sometimes do get very much on my nerves, there is no doubt in my mind that I would struggle to live without them, therefore I am very thankful for my family and all the love they give.
While at times it has felt that I have been alone, I know that there has always been someone there to help put a smile on my face. I am thankful for every friend I have ever had, but especially thankful for the wonderful friends I have today.
Every time I feel down, stressed, or just need an escape of some kind, I know I will have a book to turn to. I am thankful to them for that. I am also thankful that they have, and will always continue to teach me things and that in their own unique way they make the world just a little bit better.
In the same vein as above, I am thankful for movies and the hours of entertainment and escape that they provide, not just for me but for thousands of people.
Without authors, we would not have books and thus I am very thankful that there are people out there who spend their lives writing and publishing stories. Every author is amazing and they all get my thanks.
When books and movies do not seem to work in helping me through, I find myself thankful that my own creativity can help me feel better. Writing connects me to myself and without it I know I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I’m thankful for the help writing has given me over the years.
It is no secret that I have had my ups and downs with blogging this year but when it comes down to it, being a blogger has changed my life in the best possible ways and I am thankful that I not only started blogging but that I have stuck with it through thick and thin.
If I am feeling sad, I know that somewhere is a song to make me happy, or to make me feel less alone. The same goes for every single emotion. Music can change my mood instantly and for that I am thankful that it exists and that it has the power to help so many people who need it.
There are an unfortunate number of horrible people, natural disasters, and sadness in this world, so I am thankful that despite all of this, there are people who go above and beyond. There are those who raise for charity, who feed the homeless, who smile at strangers and are just always there to lend a hand. I am thankful that so many humans are kind even when they don’t have to be.
Or well, really I’m thankful to J. K. Rowling. This series opened a world of magic simply because it showed how adults and children can enjoy the same stories. It inspired millions of people to do different things and be different people. But mostly I’m thankful because J. K. showed me what reading, writing, and fandom can all lead to. It showed me how magical life can be.
