My Thoughts On… The Intruder
My Thoughts on… The Intruder by P. S. Hogan
Hello All!
Today is my stop on The Intruder blog tour and I am here today with a brief overview of what I think of this book so far! Sadly I didn’t get a chance to finish it but it is really good so far so I’m just going to share with you my thoughts on what I have read.
About the book
Maybe even to yours.
William Heming is an estate agent. He’s kept a copy of every key to every house he’s ever sold. Sometimes he visits them. He lets himself in – quietly, carefully – to see who lives there now, what they’re like, what they’ve been doing.
But what will happen when he gets caught?
Goodreads. Amazon UK. Waterstones.
My Thoughts
This book is unlike any I have read before. For this reason it has taken me a while to read. Not because it isn’t any good but simply because it is very intense and thus I often need to stop reading and take a little break from it all. This is not a sign of a bad book but instead the sign of a very interesting one. The reason for this is because the protagonist is not a nice, well-adjusted person. Instead he is a little different, potentially a little warped in the brain. But the book is written in the first person. It is his memories and thoughts that you read and that makes it a little hard to swallow in large chunks.
But it is also this that makes the book so intense and addictive. I have no idea where the story is going and I have to know how it well end. I am also curious as to know how all the ties add up. The narrator jumps you from one thought or memory to the next, leaving little clues scattered but no end game. I presume everything gets sorted towards the end of the book and I am very much looking forward to getting to this conclusion myself.
Overall, I am just over halfway through the book and I would definitely recommend it to other people. It is addictive, intense and very unique. It does make you worry a little bit about humans but then a lot of books like this do! It’s a book that will probably sit with me for a while after I’ve read it. Very cleverly written and interestingly done and I would definitely read more books from this author in the future. This is just one of those thriller books that re-imagines the entire genre.
