Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new topic is given and this weeks topic is Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

I touched upon some bookish goals in my new years resolution, but they were mostly centered around blogging as opposed to reading. But here are the ten goals I really want to accomplish this year.

  1. Finally fully finish writing my own book. For too many years I have been writing first drafts of novels and never getting any further but this year, I want to tidy up my current WIP, and then start sending off the manuscript. It is time to kick-start my dream rather than just sitting on the sidelines!
  2. Read 120 Books. This year I have challenged myself to read 120 books. Last year I managed 110, which was a great deal higher than 2011, but I wanted to up the ante again just to see if I can push myself!
  3. To decrease my review pile. It’s truly towering above me and I keep getting attracted to newer, prettier, shiny books instead of focusing on the ones I already have and so this year I am really going to try and get rid of my review pile so that I can feel more organised.
  4. Project 10 Books. In line with the above goal, this goal is to read ten books before I purchase or request any more books to read. This will occur throughout the year and will hopefully help me to read the books I actually own!
  5. Broaden my horizons. Blogging has been a great way for me to branch out and to try new genres but I still don’t feel I’m doing this enough and so this year I am hoping to complete my own reading Challenge (Genre Variety Challenge) and read 18 different genres.
  6. Read all the books on my 2013 “resolve to read list”. Last week I made a list – for this meme! – of the books I resolve to read this year and I really do want to get around to reading them all! I already have plans to read two of them, so fingers crossed and all that!
  7. Catch up on Reviews. Blogging has been great but being so far behind on reviews due to real-life schedules is starting to get me stressed and irritated. This year I want to get through that pile and start writing reviews as soon as I finish books instead of putting it off and putting it off…
  8. Participate in more Read-a-thons. I love them! Currently on the second day of Bout of Books and loving it so much. I find them to be a great motivation to read and to get to know some new and great blogging friends!
  9. Go to more Author events. Before last year, I had never actually been to an author event. Now I have met a fair few authors and it is always such a great experience! I hope to keep an eye out for other author events and making sure to go and meet the authors I really like.
  10. Keep meeting new bloggers. I have had the pleasure of meeting a fair few bloggers offline and I really want to continue doing that this year. Sometimes being able to talk about books face-to-face trumps twitter and blogging completely. I’ve never had friends who’ve enjoyed books like I do so it’s always grand to gush with fellow bloggers!
