Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2013
8 January, 2013
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new topic is given and this weeks topic is Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013
I touched upon some bookish goals in my new years resolution, but they were mostly centered around blogging as opposed to reading. But here are the ten goals I really want to accomplish this year.
- Finally fully finish writing my own book. For too many years I have been writing first drafts of novels and never getting any further but this year, I want to tidy up my current WIP, and then start sending off the manuscript. It is time to kick-start my dream rather than just sitting on the sidelines!
- Read 120 Books. This year I have challenged myself to read 120 books. Last year I managed 110, which was a great deal higher than 2011, but I wanted to up the ante again just to see if I can push myself!
- To decrease my review pile. It’s truly towering above me and I keep getting attracted to newer, prettier, shiny books instead of focusing on the ones I already have and so this year I am really going to try and get rid of my review pile so that I can feel more organised.
- Project 10 Books. In line with the above goal, this goal is to read ten books before I purchase or request any more books to read. This will occur throughout the year and will hopefully help me to read the books I actually own!
- Broaden my horizons. Blogging has been a great way for me to branch out and to try new genres but I still don’t feel I’m doing this enough and so this year I am hoping to complete my own reading Challenge (Genre Variety Challenge) and read 18 different genres.
- Read all the books on my 2013 “resolve to read list”. Last week I made a list – for this meme! – of the books I resolve to read this year and I really do want to get around to reading them all! I already have plans to read two of them, so fingers crossed and all that!
- Catch up on Reviews. Blogging has been great but being so far behind on reviews due to real-life schedules is starting to get me stressed and irritated. This year I want to get through that pile and start writing reviews as soon as I finish books instead of putting it off and putting it off…
- Participate in more Read-a-thons. I love them! Currently on the second day of Bout of Books and loving it so much. I find them to be a great motivation to read and to get to know some new and great blogging friends!
- Go to more Author events. Before last year, I had never actually been to an author event. Now I have met a fair few authors and it is always such a great experience! I hope to keep an eye out for other author events and making sure to go and meet the authors I really like.
- Keep meeting new bloggers. I have had the pleasure of meeting a fair few bloggers offline and I really want to continue doing that this year. Sometimes being able to talk about books face-to-face trumps twitter and blogging completely. I’ve never had friends who’ve enjoyed books like I do so it’s always grand to gush with fellow bloggers!

Fantastic goals! I’m in the progress of catching up with my reviews…it’s happening slowly but surely, haha! I definitely need to read all those books I mentioned on my TTT last week, otherwise that kind of defeats the object of creating it!

My book is on my list of goals, as well. :D Glad to see someone else has that goal, too! Good luck!!

Woot woot to finishing your won book. I am planning on participating in more read a thons too. I am doing Bouts of Books 6.0 now. Great goals. Best of luck.

Thanks!
Woooo! Readathons!!! :D how are you getting on with Bout of Books?
Bonnie
Fantastic goals, we share several. :) Finish your own book? How awesome would that be! I also wish to decrease my review pile, it’s in terrible need of some of my time. I’m trying to get those knocked out for the first couple of months of this year so that I can start focusing on all those books I already own. *fingers crossed*
Good luck with all your 2013 goals! :) My Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2013!

Thanks Bonnie! And I know, right? I’d be so very happy :)
Good luck on getting through your review books as well, because it’s always nice to be able to read what we like! :D
You too! :)
Rachelia (Bookish Comforts)
You go girl! You have a lot of passion for your current WIP, I know from our dinner convo so stick with it and do your best. Also PROJECT 10 books sounds difficult, haha, so hats off to you – that’s a real challenge :D Oh and I don’t know if I told you but I am going to be joining your Genre Variety challenge, I just need to get my 2013 challenge post up :)
Good luck on all your goals!!
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
Oooh, so much about my WIP has already changed like… IT FINALLY HAS A HAPPY ENDING! Haha. And I love the ending, but kinda worried it’s too movie-ish, lol.
Yeah, it’s kinda like a continuous book-buying ban :P
Wooo! :D
Kim @ Divergent Gryffindor
Oooh, I never participated in a readathon before, so I want to do one of those too. I also want to meet bloggers personally, but I think most of the ones I follow, or follow me are not from the Philippines. Anyway, Good Luck! :D
My Goals for 2013
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
They’re usually a load of fun! I’ve hosted a few too and plan to host some more this year so keep an eye out :)
Oooh, I know of two bloggers from the Phillippines; Kathe @ Good Lit Green Tea, and Kai @ Amaterasu Reads :-)
Thanks, Good luck to you too!

Ooh, all very excellent goals. I really need to work on cutting down my TBR pile as well. I’ve challenged myself to read 10 non-review books a month so that by the end of the year I’ll have read 120 books that I bought/acquired myself. But I’m thinking that that might be slightly ambitious based on this month’s sent for review pile :(
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
You could always just lower it slightly and make it 100 non-review books? But with all your new time, you may surprise yourself.
Good luck either way! X
Alexa Y.
We can totally hold each other accountable when it comes to finishing our WIPs. I’ve started and stopped way more times than I can count, but I’m determined that this year will be the year that I at least complete one of them, even if it ends up being shoved in a drawer! You and I can totally rock this writing this.
Also, we share a lot of similar goals, though I never really outlined mine in a post. I want to try to whittle down my own TBR pile (which is currently about about 64 physical books, and about 10 e-ARCs) before purchasing anything new. I’m a cheat though, because I caved and bought Just One Day two days ago. And I’m working on being better about keeping up with my reviews too!
Here’s to hoping we’re successful with our goals for 2013!
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
Hell yeah we can! I shall make sure to keep pestering you to see how you’re doing on your novel! Haha. And I’m always up for random word sprints :D
Haha, just start again on trying it! Good luck with it all. My review writing is the one I REALLY need to get sorted with. I have like 30 reviews to write and I KEEP reading, haha. D’oh!
Thanks, and you!
