My Thoughts

When I first heard about this book, I was positive it would be one that I would definitely enjoy and fortunately, I was right. I am a lover of the creepy books. I love ghosts and spooky horror stories so this one just felt like it would work very well for me. Add in the asexual character (yes!) and a lesbian romance (yes again!), and this was an absolute must-read for me. And honestly, I devoured this book. It took me longer to finish than expected but this is more on me than on the merit of the book. I am just an infuriating reader personality with an inane ability to leave a story unfinished for a long time before picking it back up again. Regardless of this though, when I did finally dive back into the book, I was transported straight back and didn’t have any trouble picking up where I left of which is always a sign of a very good book.

On top of all of the pluses above, Clare Legrand has also done a very good job of creating an atmosphere in this book. She really creates a scenic environment that surrounds you as you read. Which, considering this is a high-paced, intense and creepy read – this is incredibly important. Add to that a fascinating storyline, characters that you instantly connect with and root for, and you might just see why this book is an absolutely stellar read. I adored Zoey, Marion and Val. Their stories were so unique and I was very intrigued with how they all intertwined together. I also cannot lie, I absolutely loved that ending! A brilliant read from this author and I will definitely be picking up more of her books soon!
