Summary:
Too many secrets. Not enough time.

Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since it’s just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, that’s a survival tactic.

But now he’s got problems even his brothers can’t help him survive.

His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going quick as mercury from daring to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinn’s dancer friend Adam is throwing Nick off balance, forcing him to recognize a truth he’d rather shove back into the dark.

He can feel it–the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is starting to find out–sometimes nothing you do can keep the peace.

Some Moments

As soon as I was introduced to the Elemental series, I became addicted. Brigid Kemmerer is an amazingly talented author who has created truly spectacular characters with depth and clarity that makes them all feel incredibly realistic – and let’s face it, I often wish they were, simply because I want to meet them! It is due to this very biased opinion that I picked up Breathless, the third novella in the series, and I am glad to admit that as cheesy as it sounds the novella blew me away. It is by far the best book in the series and I cannot wait for Siege.

Exist To Take

This novella was the story of Nick Merrick and, as my favourite twin already – though Gabriel did win me over in Spark, until I read this – I adored his story. It has often been noted that novellas aren’t long enough to get a good idea of character but I beg to disagree, especially concerning this one! Nick’s character comes out in full bloom and it has only made me love him more. He is truly sweet, a full family boy, protective, and kind, but he is also battling himself and has a secret he has long kept hidden. I wanted so badly to makes things okay for him, or just to hold him and tell him that everything will be okay eventually!

Our Breath Away

I’ve never put spoilers in my reviews because I personally hate them and thus I am going to end this review now so as to make sure that I don’t spill my guts. I will end to say that the writing style of Brigid Kemmerer is magnificent and she is an author who has quickly become a favourite of mine. All of her books are incredible and I would totally advise you to read the series if you haven’t yet! Breathless is an intense novella that will have you dying for more and waiting on the edge of hooks for the next part of Nick’s story – and crying in pain when you realise how far away that is. All I can really say is; Don’t Miss This.
