Blogger Spotlight! – INTERVIEW!
Hey Guys!
So today I am finally introducing you to the lovely Hollie at Music, Books and Tea.
I will be asking her some questions for you all to read over and enjoy!
Hope it helps you get a better insight into her!
Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m Hollie and I’m 19 years old. I’m currently training to become a fully qualified dispensing assistant and in time, I’m aiming to become a pharmacy technician. When I’m not at work or doing anything book/blog related, I’m probably listening to music or drinking tea. I also love watching motor sport on TV, mainly Speedway and NASCAR.
How long have you had your blog?
I first started my blog in September 2011, and posted my first review in October 2011. Meaning I missed my blogoversary. Ooops.
Do you enjoy running your blog?
I do! Sometimes it can get a little stressful, especially when I’m fretting over lack of content, knowing full well I have reviews waiting to be written! I love every single aspect of blogging. Especially talking to other bloggers! You guys are awesome! Most of my friends aren’t really into reading, so it’s great being able to talk about my passion with other people who understand why I need to constantly buy books and why I freak out if I see someone dog-earing their pages. Seriously, PLEASE USE A BOOKMARK!
When you started, did you ever think that it would end up the way it has?
Nope! Before I started Music, Books and Tea, I had never managed to run a blog for longer than a week (excluding my Tumblr), so to have been blogging for over a year is kind of mind-blowing! And the thought that people actually bother to read what I write is absolutely mental.
Is there an interesting background story to the name of your blog, if there is, tell us!
Not really. I’ve always found blog names difficult to come up with. I knew I wanted something different from my tumblr’s name, I really wanted something that reflected me as a person. So I picked three things that I’m never normally very far from, and played around with their order until they looked like an acceptable blog name!
As we’ve got this far without mentioning it, why not tell us a little something about your blog, what you post, how it runs, who you cater to, etc.
Music, Books and Tea is a mainly YA blog, although I do post the occasional adult fiction review. I don’t review solely books, I also write about gigs I’ve been to or CD’s I’ve listened to recently. I love music as much as I love books, so I thought that if I was going to review books, I might as well review music too. I find CD reviews a little more difficult to write than book reviews, mainly because I just want to gush about every single amazing thing I’ve listened to from the album!
Do you participate or host and blog memes? If you do, which is your favourite?
I take part in Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday. I love Top Ten Tuesday because I have a real thing about lists. Which is very sad, I know, but I just like them! Waiting on Wednesday is great, but my wishlist really doesn’t think so! It just continues on growing and growing with all the amazing books people feature.
What about blog tours and blog hops? Have you ever or do you ever want to participate in them?
I haven’t taken part in any as of yet, but I am looking into taking part in blog tours, most likely in the new year.
What is the best book you read in 2011?
Argh! Such a hard question. Probably Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. Closely followed by If I Stay/Where She Went by Gayle Forman.
What about in 2012?
I can’t choose just one! I’ll have to separate them into genres. Contemporary: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Dystopian: Divergent by Veronica Roth. Paranormal/Fantasy: Finding Sky by Joss Stirling. I’m going to just leave it there, because if I don’t, I’m going to just list every book I’ve given a five-star rating on this year!
Has there ever been a book that you haven’t been able to finish? If so, what was it? And why couldn’t you finish?
There’s been quite a few actually. I’m of the view that life is too short to read books I’m not enjoying! I couldn’t finish I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore. It just really fell flat for me, which is sad, as I had really hoped to enjoy it.
What is your favourite book genre?
This is like asking a parent which child is their favourite! I honestly can’t choose. It really depends on my current mood. The dystopian/post-apocalyptic genre has shot up quite high on my list this year, but I honestly just cannot pick! During the warmer months (or when I pretend I live on sunnier climes!) I tend to lean towards contemporary reads. During winter, I’m more likely to pick fantasy. It changes all the time though, so I never really have a favourite set in stone. A bit like my music taste!
Quick Fire Round
ebook or hardcopy?
Hardcopy, but I’m a huge fan of ebooks too.
ya or adult?
YA!
vampires or werewolves?
Vampires. There’s just something quite cool about them!
chocolate or vanilla?
This is probably the hardest question ever for me! Chocolate. Just.
harry potter or twilight?
Harry Potter.
four or peeta?
I lie, THIS is the hardest one. Peeta. I think. Possibly.
series or single?
Single for contemporary, series for everything else.
blogger or wordpress?
I’ve only used blogger, but I do like wordpress a lot more!
And finally,
Is there anything else you would like to say about you or your blog?
Just a huge thank you to all of my followers and everyone who’s commented or just chanced upon my blog! And thank you to Faye for featuring me as your blogger spotlight this month!
