Blogspiration is a weekly meme hosted by GrowingUp YA & Saz101. This meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers and writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video is posted weekly, on the day of the authors choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation & just a little SOMETHING.
 
So, this week, Kristin and Sarah wanted us all to answer the question;
what is your favourite literary quote?
 
Now, at first I wasn’t going to do one of these posts, simply because in all honesty I don’t know what my favourite quote of all time is. My memory, while great for the larger things (I could probably tell you what happens bit by bit in a book I read four years ago), remembering sentences or quotes, or, hell, even book names, I’m not that great at. And, guess who doesn’t write these things done? Ah yes, that would be me!
So, to begin with, I didn’t think I’d participate due to not knowing what to put. But after seeing some lovely quotes, I knew that I would have to find something. So, I went to look at my favourite book of all time, and low and behold, on the first page was an amazing quote.
 
‘I don’t know, Dad,’ I sighed, ‘I’m not sure I can write a story.’
’Ah now, that’s nonsense. Anyone can write a story. It’s the easiest thing in the world. How else do you think I make a living out of it? All you have to do is tell the truth, tell it like it was.’
’But I don’t know how it was, I don’t know all the details, the facts—‘
’Stories aren’t facts, Cait, they’re not details. Stories are feelings. You’ve got your feelings, haven’t you?’
’Too many,’ I said.
’Well, that’s all you need.’ He put his hand on mine. ‘Cry yourself a story, love. It works. Believe me.’

I just… this quote to me… sums the book up in so many ways and just… speaks to the soul, my soul at least. It’s true, it’s powerful, it’s amazing. And it is one of the many reasons why I love Kevin Brooks.
 
Of course, there are also many amazing quotes in Harry Potter, and in the Noughts and Crosses trilogy by Malorie Blackman. And, most likely in every book that I have ever loved ever.
 
One more quote, from a more recent book I love is;

I mean, this whole book was amazing, but this quote just really stuck out to me, and this one I did write down, so that means it must have been good, right?

    Wait… this is your favorite book EVER? EVER EVER? I’ve… never heard of it… I FAIL AT LIFE! OK, I’ve just added it to my TBR. Like, you can even check my Goodreads if you don’t believe me. Oh goodness. I LOVE this one, m’dear!

    And oh my goodbness… that Divergent quote? I get chills EVERY time.

    I always find these sorts of things so hard because very often my favorite quotes depend on context; the power and beauty of the words depend on the circumstances under which the character is saying them. For instance, in Tennyson’s Idylls of the King, in Guinevere’s book, Arthur says, “You have not made my life so sweet, that I, the king, should greatly care to live.” The exquisite despair in those words makes me weep buckets every time. And later, when Guinevere says, “Let no man dream but that he loves me still,” again, the agony and the despair in those words – she’s trying to convince herself that Arthur still loves her as much as the people she is speaking to – break my heart.
