Author Interview: Leanne Marshall

Today I am pleased to welcome Leanne Marshall on to the blog with a quick interview! She’s come up with some wonderful answers!

Q&A

What is your favourite thing about writing books?
The getting lost in my own head and the world I create, it works the same way reading a book would, and I can visualise every single detail of the scenes I write as I go. I like it more than reading though as I control the people and the outcomes.

Who is your favourite character in your book and why?
I would have to say Sophie Huntsberger, because out of all the characters I have written she is the closest to being me as a person. We share so many traits, behaviours and our minds work the same way. I think through her I have managed to deal with some past issues in my own way that I have now laid to rest.

What is your favourite drink to consume while writing?
Tea. Or Irn Bru, being a typical scot lol. I go through a ton of tea, but it has to be Scottish blend tea bags. I must drink a cup every two hours when writing.

Do you have any bad habits while you’re writing?
Snacking, missing real meals when stuck in the flow and eating lazy to hand foods. Also not getting dressed, not taking bathroom breaks and generally being a slob who will not leave her PC screen lol

How do you research your books?
I research as I write – anything I do not know, any questions I have, I look it up as I go. Google is my best friend.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Definitely a pantser, I rarely pre-plan and just see where my writing takes me. I normally have a loose idea of start, middle and end but the rest happens by itself. I run through fast, and let it all flow out, before going back and seeing what I like.

If you could live in any fictional world, which would you choose and why?
The hobbit’s shire… I would love to see the shire and be part of the adventure they went on. I would live in Bilbo’s hobbit hole as I think it looks like the most adorable cosy place and one day want a little replica hobbit hole in my garden as my writing room.

If you could befriend any fictional character, who would you choose and why?
Arrick Carrero – he is just lovely, sweet, loyal, and the kind of guy who would make an amazing best friend. He really is a caring person and very cute too. Plus it doesn’t hurt that he’s loaded and talented.

About the Author

Leanne Marshall is a Scottish born and bred romance writer with more than the average person’s life experience. She has been a torrent of wild things, including singer in a girl band, animal rights activist and charity owner, worked in radio and offered jobs in TV.
A passionate, restless soul, who has always found peace in writing, the only way to calm that fiery spirit.
She uses her wit and dark humour to her advantage in her works and has been an avid reader for most of her life. Her influences vary, but from early life and a teen stint in journalism, she applies logic to most of her plot lines, is a self-confessed research fiend, and likes a lot of psychology behind her characters actions.
She currently resides in Central Scotland with her two children and Fiancée of 13 years, making waves in the book world with her signature ‘WTF moments’ she likes to apply in each story, hints of humour and devastating emotional rollercoaster rides.
Quote from L.T.Marshall – ‘Writing has always been an escape for me, loving that no matter what you are doing, where you are – you can create ideal fantasy and get lost in someone else’s life. I love nothing more than drawing a reader with me on a journey that tortures your every emotion before the grand exhale.’
