Bout of Books

Bout of Books 7.0 Wrap-Up!

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team.

Hey Guys!
So I was going to do all of my wrap-ups in a video but after filming it yesterday something went wrong with my camera and it was all out of sync and didn’t flow properly and it was really late and I wasn’t in the mood to re-film it again so instead you, unfortunately, just get a post wrap-up instead. (But I will have some new vlogs coming soon!).
I’ll start by reminding you all of the goals I posted.

Goals

  • Read at least four books; I think this may not be possible but I hope I can do it nonetheless!
  • Participate in at least two challenges; I have always loved the challenges for this.
  • Participate in at least one twitter chat; Definitely one of my favourite things about read-a-thons so looking forward to this.
  • Comment on blogs & make new blogger friends; Who doesn’t like doing this?

Do you see how they’re all crossed out? That means that I completed them all! *wooo*
Now for a little information on each goal.

Comment on blogs & Make New Friends

Okay so after the twitter chat I found a few new blogs and vloggers and instantly went to their pages and vlogs and did some watching and reading and then did some commenting! Wooo! I met a few new people in the chat as well and so I think I can successfully say that I completed this task! It may not have been as many blogs/vlogs/friends that I wanted BUT it happened and therefore it counts.

Participate in TWO mini-challenges

I participated in the Acrostic Poem hosted by Harley Bear Book Blog and I participated in Book Spine Poetry hosted by Smash Attack Reads! I enjoyed both of the challenges a lot and am really glad that I joined in. There were a few other challenges I would have liked to join in on like the one hosted by Queen Ella Bee Reads, and the make your own cover one looked good as well but they occured on days I had work and when I came home I just wanted to read and tune the world out instead of blogging. But maybe I’ll challenge myself to participate in more challenges next time!

Participate in ONE twitter chat

I did this on the Monday! I tried to also make it to the one on Wednesday but as it was at 2am local time and I had been at work that day, I ended up falling asleep instead which was a bit of a shame as I hear it was absolutely mental BUT I’m glad I managed to make it to the one on Monday at least. It was great fun, went WAY too fast for my eyes to really adjust but I met some new bloggers and vloggers and made some new friends and got some great book recommendations. So wooo!

Read at least FOUR books

Not only did I reach this goal, but I also SURPASSED it and actually read a total of FIVE books. This makes me incredibly happy! I ended up reading half of Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel, and half of Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud which totals one book, and then I read four whole books as well. This really made my week because I have NEVER read five books in a week before and also before the read-a-thon started I was in a bit of a reading slump and hadn’t finished a book in a while so yes, really happy and proud of myself!

The books I read were;

And there you have my Wrap-Up! The next Bout of Books is from August 19th – 25th and I cannot wait! Here’s hoping it’s even BIGGER and BETTER than before :D
