Ever since I first heard about this book, I was very excited to read it. There are very few YA Christmas books out in the world and I absolutely love Christmas books so I really wanted to read this. I’m not the biggest fan of short stories but I’m starting to love them a little bit more with each one I read! Thus I was excited and dubious about this book but I’m very pleased to let you all know that I actually really enjoyed this book. It was very different and I completely loved how different and varied all of the stories were. Some were lovely, some darker, some just very unique. It really brought together the theme of home and how it can mean something different to everyone.
Reviewing a book like this is quite hard as I don’t want to bore you all by reviewing each and every story in the book so this is just a little review to say that I really enjoyed reading it, would happily read it again every year and really loved all of the messages that I got from the different stories. Every story was very-well written and entertaining and I got wholly swept away by the entire book as a whole. My favourite three stories were:
Cat Clarke’s, Lisa Williamson’s and Juno Dawson’s
But every author brought something wonderful to this book and made it a complete and utter delight to read. While it is essentially a Christmas book, I really feel this book could be read at any time of year and it’s strong message will always be the same. So if you’re looking for something a little bit different but still an entertaining and thoughtful read, then make sure you pick up I’ll Be Home for Christmas!
