Magnificently Magic Read-A-Thon Announcement!
Hey Guys!
So, I am posting it now even though it’s like… two months away, just to see if this is something that people are interested in!
But what is the Magnificently Magic Read-A-Thon?
Well, Christmas can be a very magical time of year with the snow on the ground (if you’re lucky), the pretty trees and lights all aglow and just the general feel of that festive time of year. Therefore, I thought it would be quite nice to have a readathon during December reflecting this wonderful time. (There may even be some Christmas surprises throughout the read-a-thon!)
The idea is to read any magical books.
That could be books with witches, books about fairy’s (or fey), books that just feel magical (*cough* Celia Ahern *cough*), books with a winter setting, or even Christmas themed books!
I have also made this two weekends before Christmas as, if you’re anything like me, the weekend before will most likely be incredibly busy with family things, last minute shopping, etc, etc. But if this date doesn’t work for you, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do!
*edit: The date is now all set for 13th-16th Dec*
Throughout the readathon there will also be a twitter chat and maybe some mini challenges – if you’re up for hosting a challenge or even a giveaway, please contact me here.
So there is still a lot of organising to do, but I just wanted to get this out there and see if people are interested! If you do decide to sign up, I would appreciate either a tweet or a post to say you are so that others can join in the fun! Also, that button at the top is free for you to “steal” as well.
Oh, and from now on, feel free to use the hashtag; #MMReadathon

What a great idea. I was looking through my piles of unread books yesterday and I was trying to decide what type of book I’d like to read in December, coming up to Christmas. And in a happy coincidence, I’d chosen my stack of fantasy YA.
Weekends aren’t good for me, as they are dedicated days to family time, but what a fun idea for a readathon. Good luck :)

I’m glad you posted this in advance actually! Definitely going to join, and gather up some magical book for it too!

I’m sad because I just missed out on the Dewey’s readathon so I’m definitely eager to get in on the action with this one. I love the theme, too! Keep me posted with details. :)

That’s a lovely idea! I’m going to take a look to see if I can participate :D

I’m pretty sure this is reading period for my exams. I’d rather do reading for this. :) I hope everyone who signs up has fun!

I would love to participate, I’m always up for another read-a-thon! My suggestion as far as extending or not is only do it if you have at least one mini-challenge per day. Generally I enjoy the shorter, more compact ones because it feels like a true “thon” but either way will be fun. ^.^

Ooooooh sounds interesting and very tempting to take part in.
Don’t think that I could manage a solid read-a-thon that I see people usually take part in, but I may keep a couple of Christmas books aside to read around then.
It also helps that I have a Guest Blog post on “That Artsy Reader Girl” blog for “Let It Snow” by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle.

I’m going to bookmark this and come back once I know my schedule in December! I don’t want to sign up if I have guests coming…I’m excited though! Sounds like it would be so fun. :)

This sounds like a blast – I’m always looking for read-a-thons! :-D

I’m in, I can’t pass up on a read-a-thon ;)
A week long would be better, but either way works :)
I’ve put the button on my blog!

Anything to do with magic is my absolute favourite kind of story! I’d love to join in, but never done a read-a-thon before so I’m not sure what it involves exactly? Is it just reading as many books as possible over those days? If so, count me in! :-)

All signed up! Not sure how much reading I’ll get done, but I’ll try. =O) Thanks to Aleksandra for letting me know about this.
