Summary:
Isla Palmer is CRAZY about cats — SUPER-IN-LOVE crazy — but her vet-nurse mum has never let her have one. Then Isla meets Poppy, a gorgeous cat in need of a loving home, and comes up with the perfect way to convince Mum.
It’s not long before Poppy has transformed life at the Palmers’ – everyone is happier, especially Gran, and even Isla’s older sister Tilda admits she likes having Poppy around. But Poppy isn’t the only one in need of a home and soon their
house is full of cats. With Mum at her wits’ end, Isla needs to come up with a plan and fast!
My Thoughts
The first thing that you need to know is that I am a big cat lover. Which means that as soon as I heard about this cute sounding MG title, I simply had to read it and find out what it was like. I also want you to know this because if you highly dislike cats, this will not be the right book for you. But then again, you’ve probably already figured that out.
When I finally decided to pick this book up, I was in an emotional state. I felt sad and miserable and needed a book to restore my faith in humanity. This book managed that perfectly – it also cheered me up tenfold. The Home-Made Cat Cafe is a heart-warming, emotionally moving book that is full of love and hope. It is a book that will have you begging for more – and fortunately there IS more!
Isla is such a loveable character. She is cat obsessed, naturally, but she is also really caring and kind. Her gran is another super character and I have to admit that I am starting to love seeing grandparents in books! Of course, Poppy steals the show! A beautiful and mischievous cat, Poppy is the real star of this story and really manages to being everyone together in such a beautiful way.
I started this book presuming that I would like it. I finished it in love. If I could, I would live with these characters and their cat cafe. As it is, that would be rather difficult so I guess I’ll have to settle for reading the rest of the series instead! If you’re after a cute book that you’ll instantly devour and that will stay with you forever, make sure you pick this book up!
