Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine where you can spotlight a book you’re giddy with excitement to read so other people can be giddy with excitement too :)
This is my first one of these, hence the #1 in the title! But I thought I would do this a little differently. My blog is about books and films so I figure that my Waiting on Wednesday will also involve films that I am waiting to come out. I will post the trailer and say a little about the film and that way we can all enjoy new films that are coming out! =]

Mia Price is a lightning addict. She’s survived countless strikes, but her craving to connect to the energy in storms endangers her life and the lives of those around her.

Los Angeles, where lightning rarely strikes, is one of the few places Mia feels safe from her addiction. But when an earthquake devastates the city, her haven is transformed into a minefield of chaos and danger. The beaches become massive tent cities, populated by millions of homeless. Downtown is a wasteland, where a traveling party moves to a different empty building each night, the attendees drawn to the destruction by a magnetic force they cannot deny. Two warring cults rise to power in the wake of the disaster, and both see Mia as the key to their opposing prophecies. They know she has a connection to the freak electrical storm that caused the quake, and to the worse storm that is yet to come.

Mia wants to trust the enigmatic and alluring Jeremy when he promises to protect her, but he’s hiding a more sinister truth. When the final disaster strikes, Mia must unleash the full horror of her strength to save them all.

Why: It just sounds so riveting, doesn’t it? And look at that pretty cover! Ahh! Just everything about this book, summary and cover, draw me in and I honestly cannot wait to be able to dive into it =D

HEE! <3 So I might love your WoW just a little bit… a lot…. A HECK LOT. I am so so so excited for Struck, it sounds AMAZING and looks so damn badass. It’s one of my top ten anticipated reads for 2012.

And there are no words to express my excitement for The Hunger Games movie. HOLY WHOA. The trailer has exceeded my expectations. There’s always that worry that the movie adaptation won’t live up to the novel, but I’ve no doubt in my mind that this will be outstanding. MARCH, PLEASE COME SOON!

I love how you’ve combined books and movies in the meme! I’m kind of wishing my blog was about movies too so I could copy this idea!

Stuck looks like such an interesting book. Addicted to lighting?? There’s gotta be a good story behind that one. And I love that cover. Great pick. And of course AWESOME pick on the trailer. I keep watching it, I can’t wait for March!

Feel free to check out my YA WoW here.

@Brodie – Aha. Thankies! I am glad you liked it so much!

And I know what you mean! My least favourite adaptation is ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ because it deviated from the book SO much! But this one looks SO good and in tune with the book! -sits with abaited breath-

@lsl_scrapper – Oh, I definitely think you should add it to your books to read! I know it may seem like it won’t be any good because of the hype but honestly, the hype is just so right for it! People NEED to read it! :D

@Grace – Right? It’s always so hard to choose from and I’m also not sure how I’ll ever find the time to read all the ones I want to!!

@Jaskirat – Thanks! And I know, right? That’s all covers seem to be full of lately, right? lol.

@Pamela – =D Thanks! I love both movies and books and I wanted something that was a bit different and unique and thus, a blog about both! hehe.

Right? I got really really intrigued by it and now can’t wait to get my hands on it! And I agree, I just keep watching it and oogling over how pretty it is. If the film isn’t good, I might just cry!!

@Lindsay – Isn’t it? Thanks for stopping by!

    @Giselle – Yaaay!

@Nea – Exactly! That’s the right spirit right there! =D
