Weekly Highlights; Bout of Books 8.0 Edition
Weekly Highlights is a new feature here at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts and will be a post highlighting things that happened on and off the blog. It is inspired by The Story Sirens In My Mailbox, Books, Biscuit and Tea’s Showcase Sunday, Kimba Caffeinated’s Sunday Post, and the British Letterbox Love.
In the feature I won’t mention everything I received, nor every post I wrote during the week but will simply feature a selection of things I wish to spotlight a second time around.
Post Highlights
This week has been a Bout of Books read-a-thon week and so behind the scenes I have been doing a lot of reading – and preparing some (hopefully) great reviews for you all! – and I finally feel like I’m starting to get the hang of blogging again but I just want to ask that you bear with me a little while longer. I’m sure it’ll all be worth it when I finally return completely!
I posted TWO reviews this week;
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry (FOUR HEARTS)
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas (FOUR HEARTS)
For Monday’s Movie Musings this week I wrote a post with my top five book-adaptations (so far). Check out what books I chose here
Finally I posted a very personal post about the problems I’ve been having with motivation. Check that post by clicking here, and if you have any advice for me I’d really appreciate it!
And because I didn’t manage to do a Weekly Highlights post last week, I just want to tell you all about a post I wrote last week. Some of you may have seen me talking about a TBR Jar and last week I wrote a post about where I heard abut the idea and wrote out how you can make your own! Check it out here!
Bout of Books
As mentioned above, this week I have been participating in the Bout of Books read-a-thon. I may not have hit all of my goals but I still really enjoyed it – and still have today to try and get on top of my goals – and that is really what it is all about.
If you want to see what I’ve been reading and check out all of my updates, then go here
Around the Blogosphere
This week there was a really interesting Top Ten Tuesday topic. Top Ten Things that make our life as bloggers easier/better. From this topic I read a lot of great posts and just wanted to highlight some of them here.
Bookish Comforts
Winged Reviews
Gone With The Words
A Librarian’s Library
Luna’s Little Library
Queen Ella Bee Reads
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that City of Bones was released in cinemas (theatres) this week. Because of this there have been a few City of Bones related posts and here’s a few I just wanted to share with you;
Caroline at Big Book Little Book made her very first vlog (which I helped edit) for her review of the film. Check out what she had to say here.
Critics can be irritating, but as book reviewers, we are also critics and everyone is entitled to our opinion. Even so, I found this post to be quite interesting. Click here to see A Message to the Critics and the Haters.
This week Laura from Bookish Treasures wrote a very interesting post about review requests. Go here to see what she says about it all!
There are a lot of different bookish events that people can go to and this week Debbie has spoken about how she feels about each type. Check out her interesting post here.
And finally, Amanda made a really interesting discussion post this week about reviews. Have you ever wondered who uses the reviews you write? Check out this fab post here.
Letterbox Love
This week I only got three books – about time! – but I’m super excited about them all!
Invisibility by Andrea Cremer and David Levithan; Borrowed from the library. I’m really looking forward to reading this one! Have you noticed how many David Levithan books I’m reading? ;)
Katya’s World by Jonathon L Howard; Bought from Amazon. Heard some great things about this one and can’t wait to see if they’re true or not!
Poltergeeks by Sean Cummings; Bought from Amazon. Another book that I’ve heard great things about and cannot wait to see what I think about it as well!
And there you have it, my Weekly Highlights!
I hope to visit all posts of this manner, so feel free to link to your own IMMs, Sunday Showcase, Sunday Posts, Letterbox Loves or whatever it is you do below!
what did you get this week? what cool blog posts did you stumble upon? what are you waiting to happen this week?
