Weekly Highlights; The Slow-Reading Week Edition

weekly highlights

Weekly Highlights is a new feature here at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts and will be a post highlighting things that happened on and off the blog. It is inspired by The Story Sirens In My Mailbox, Books, Biscuit and Tea’s Showcase Sunday, Kimba Caffeinated’s Sunday Post, and the British Letterbox Love.

In the feature I won’t mention everything I received, nor every post I wrote during the week but will simply feature a selection of things I wish to spotlight a second time around.

Post Highlights

This week has been a busy one on and off the blog but I have to admit at being a little proud of how busy my blog has been lately. I love getting back to posting every single day and I am letting you know now that I have every day scheduled on this blog for the next two weeks as well which is super exciting for me! I just hope I can schedule the posts enough in advance that they actually go live :P.

Anyway, what happened this week;

I posted THREE reviews this week;
The Windvale Sprites by Mackenzie Crook (FOUR HEARTS)
The Lost Journals of Benjamin Tooth by Mackenzie Crook (THREE HEARTS)
Bombmaker by Claire McFall (FIVE HEARTS)

I also posted TWO cover reveals today for two books I’m excited for!
Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer – Not enough words to describe how excited I am for this book and for the reveal of the UK cover when it comes!
All Lined Up by Cora Carmack – I loved the Losing It series by Cora and I’m looking forward to seeing what these new books will all be about!

As it’s so close to valentine’s day, the top ten topic was books that make us swoon! I realised I missed SO MANY from this list but here are my choices. Do you agree with them or disagree? What would you choose?

We’re into the third week of Finish It February and my second week of reading just wasn’t as strong as the first, unfortunately! But you can catch my updates here.

Review Copy Cleanup

This is my updates for this event!
I set out with a goal that half of the books I read this month be review copies.

This week I read TWO books. One was a review copy and one wasn’t.

So I’m still good on my goal! Wooo!

Review Copies Read;
The Lost Journals of Benjamin Tooth by Mackenzie Crook
Unhinged by A. G. Howard
Drummer Girl by Bridget Tyler

Around The Blogosphere

There’s always a lot of thoughts on ARCs and some I’ve been having over the past year or so. I really liked this post by Nicole on ARCs. Does it ever become too much? Is it better not to get ARCs? What are your thoughts?

Forbidden love is everywhere! But why? Sophie’s post on this topic was a really interesting one and I loved Non and Simone’s responses to it! What do you think about Forbidden love?

Do you think the wait of a year between books by the same author is too long? This post by Jen is definitely an interesting one with some good pros and cons. Personally, I feel having to wait can be a good thing, because books that are rushed to be published can be full of errors, or may not be polished in the best possible way. And some writers just simply can’t write that fast. If the wait is worth it, why does it matter?

Did you see what Robert Muchamore posted on Facebook on Monday on libraries? It seemed to be a very opinionated status that caused a lot of upset. Debbie wrote this post in response to it all and I think you should definitely check it out.

Why is YA important? What is the purpose of YA fiction? This week Luna hosted Alexia Casale on her blog who wrote this incredible post that you should all go read!

And because food and books is always amazing, you should check out this post on Jesse’s blog where he shows you how to make Chocolate Chip Cookies inspired by Confessions of an Angry Girl.

Letterbox Love

Fortunately I didn’t get quite as many books this week, wooo! :D Check out what I got in my video below!

And there you have it, my Weekly Highlights!

I hope to visit all posts of this manner, so feel free to link to your own IMMs, Sunday Showcase, Sunday Posts, Letterbox Loves or whatever it is you do below!

what did you get this week? what cool blog posts did you stumble upon? what are you waiting to happen this week?
