Friday’s Favourite Film Release #5

Okay, so I have to apologise to all of you as this post was supposed to be made and posted up yesterday but I honestly just didn’t have the time! (Too much Uni work and paid-work that made me tired) Anyway! I didn’t want to let this slip out of my fingers and so, as they always say, better late than never!

And that means it’s time for Friday’s Favourite Film Release! For those unfamiliar with this, it basically means that I will describe each of the films that have been released this week and then I will be picking my favourite, which literally means the one that I cannot wait to watch!
So, this week’s releases were:
50/50 (Release Date: 25/11/11)
Adam lives a normal life in the offices of a radio station where he has spent a lot of time on a story about volcano’s. He has a girlfriend and a best friend and life is running smoothly for him. That all changes however, when he is suddenly diagnosed with a rare malignant cancer. Now it is all he has to do to keep everything together and to not fall apart. This is the story of a guy who has to learn to deal with a new perspective on life.
Dream House (Release Date: 25/11/11)
Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a high power job in Manhattan to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived. When Will investigates, he’s not sure if he’s starting to see ghosts or if the tragic story is just hitting too close to home. His only clues come from Ann Paterson (Watts), a mysterious neighbor who knew those who were shot. And as Will and Ann piece together the haunting puzzle, they must find out who murdered the family in Will’s dream house before he returns to kill again.
Moneyball (Release Date: 25/11/11)
Billy Beane is a General Manager of Oakland A’s baseball team, who hits a sensational home run when he starts to use computer analysis to select a winning team. Based on real events, the film charts his team’s success as his controversial tactics, more at home on Wall Street than in the Major League, upset the baseball establishment whilst propelling his team up the league.
My Week With Marilyn (Release Date: 25/11/11)
A fascinating insight into a young Oxford graduate’s seven days with Hollywood’s most famous movie star, ‘My Week With Marilyn’ takes place during the filming of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’, the 1957 film that brought Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe together for the only time. ‘My Week With Marilyn’ follows the lowly assistant as he is tasked with acting as Marilyn’s guide, witnesses the head-on collision between reserved England and uninhibited Hollywood, and is granted access to the innermost thoughts and secrets of the troubled sex symbol.

THE FAVOURITE: 50/50 (Dreamhouse)
Okay, so I’m cheating a little this week as I saw a pre-release of 50/50 and just absolutely adored it as it may just be one of my favourite flms of the year! But, as I already know that this is my favourite and as I have already actually seen it. I will say that my second favourite film to see this week would be Dreamhouse as it looks quite interesting. It seems that it might be quite obvious and will follow many conventions but it also seems really intriging and I like the name and therefore, I want to go and see it!
what about you? what do you want to see most?
