Today is my stop on the Stella’s Christmas Wish blog tour and I am really excited to share with you all my review of this book! (Spoiler: I loved it!) Before we get into the juicy details of why though, here’s some more information about the book in question.

Six days before Christmas, Stella could never have anticipated the impact on her life when the phone rings in her London office.

The phone call is from a friend of the family informing Stella that her grandmother has been hurt in a fall at her home in the Scottish borders and is in hospital. Torn between her responsibilities at work and the need to be with her grandmother she decides she must return to Scotland immediately.

My Review

Christmas Is

I absolutely adore Christmas books. I love that feeling of hope and magic and happiness that fills my heart when I get to the end of them. It’s the type of spirit that I love feeling around Christmas. I have a love/hate relationship with the holiday but mostly I have to admit that I do love the “magic” of everything and the feeling that everything will just be okay. I mean, who doesn’t? Thus, I was very excited when I found out about Stella’s Christmas Wish as it sounded like a lovely read. And I am so happy to report that it really, really was. I was instantly addicted to the words and the characters and the story and I so badly wanted everything to go well for them all. It was a brilliantly wonderful and heart-warming story that I did not want to end. (And I’m definitely trying not to wish too hard for a sequel)

A Time

This is one of those books that I love the most because it is character-driven. The plot is all about the journey that the characters are making and how it has all got tangled up in a complicated mess that they have to try and unwind. It starts out with Stella who is in London, living far away from her family. We don’t know why she is there, only that she left without giving her boyfriend of the time any reason for leaving. Thus the story continues as we unwind the why and try to piece everything together. But there is also more going on with her grandmother, sister and a secret. It is a fully-packed novel that keeps you guessing at every turn while you ultimately wish that all the characters will get what they want.

For Love

Honestly loved every single character in this novel. They were all so full of life, backgrounds, and just made the book so entertaining to read. I loved Gray and how caring he is. Bette for her lively personality and hope for Ross and Stella. Carol for her bubbly, chatty self. Alice for her dedication and hard-work, her creativity and her love. Lilias for her ditsyness but also for being a wonderful creator. But mostly, mostly, I loved Stella and Ross. I loved how kind and generous Ross is. How practical but caring he is. How he runs and would drop everything for those he cares about. And I loved Stella. I loved how she felt about her family, how she was entangled in a web, how strong and lovely she was. I just thought every single character were diamonds and I loved reading about them and the way their lives intertwined.

And Family

So, obviously, I really enjoyed this book. I finished it feeling all the things I wanted to feel and I was pretty much just sad that there wasn’t more – and I really, really, want there to be a sequel. I loved the location of Scotland, both urban and rural. I loved the closeness of the families and the way everything came together and fell apart. I thought it was just a wonderful read that I would happily read all over again. I fell in love with the characters and actually wish they were real so I could hug them and cheer along with them too. Honestly, if you’re looking for a feel-good read that is addictive and heart-warming, make sure that you pick up this book!
