January Monthly Wrap Up

Post Highlights

The first month of the year is OVER. How is this even possible?

This month has actually been a good one for me. It was full of some ups and downs but I think, overall, it’s been quite a good one and I have definitely got back into the swing of things with the blog which is awesome!

I went to a few events this month. I was invited to the Scholastic Blogger Brunch and a blogger event with Harper Voyager (on the same day!) both of which were really fun and it was great to see everyone.

I also went to YA Book Prize #DrinkYA event which was really fab and I met some great new people and chatted to some that I already knew.

And finally I went to a meet up called Super Relaxed Fantasy Club which was really interesting and something that I really enjoyed. It happens every month and while I won’t be able to make it every month, I’m certainly going to go when I can!

My top three posts this month were;
Blog Tour; Fashion Assassin by Sarah Sky
Book Review; Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer
Why I’m Not Challenging Myself This Year

I also announced the UKYA Book Blogger Awards for which the shortlist was announced yesterday. Click Here to vote for your favourites!

I am very proud to admit that I read nine books this month!

Favourite Book

A Darker Shade final for Irene I loved Vicious by V. E. Schwab and was therefore SUPER excited for this book. When I finally got my hands on the book, I only waited a few days before I started reading it. And then it took me a week to read it, only because I wanted to savour the words. This book is written in such a lovely way that I just wanted to devour it and I certainly never wanted the book to end. The plot was super interesting and I loved the characters and I really cannot wait for the next book in this series. This book is full of magic, both within the world it’s about, and in the way that it can truly transport you to that place. I would highly recommend this book.

Books Read

Two Stars

Five Children and It

Five Children & It by E Nesbit; I really struggled to enjoy this book. I had hoped I would but it just wasn’t right for me.

Three Stars

It Must Have Been THe Mistletoe Girl Online seven days Drawing with Light

It Must Have Been The Mistletoe by Judy Astley; This one was a cute read that I enjoyed. It was a lovely Christmas romance. Unfortunately it did drag a little bit and felt very predictable but otherwise an enjoyable read.

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg; A read a didn’t expect to enjoy as much. A light read that made me feel all happy about the romance and the friendship. An easy read that I enjoyed and would definitely recommend.

Seven Days by Eve Ainsworth; While I was hoping for more from this title, it was enjoyable and had a very realistic story. I just wish the story and characters were fleshed out a little more. But a good book to escape with for a few hours.

Drawing With Light by Julia Green; This was a really interesting read. It had a really lovely love story and was about a girl learning about her roots. It was full of lyrical and beautiful writing and was just a really solid story that I really enjoyed.

Four Stars

Aristotle and Dante Discover Secrets Full Metal Alchemist Mayhem

Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz; I fell in love with this story because of Aristotle and Dante. Their journey is such an interesting one. There is such a unique voice to this book and the writing is easy to fall into.

Full Metal Alchemist Vol 1 by Hiromu Arakawa; A very interesting way to start a manga! This is only my second manga and I really enjoyed it. I love how the story went and I’m definitely intrigued enough to want to continue it on. Very much looking forward to seeing the characters return.

Mayhem by Sarah Pinborough; This book was very well-written, very gripping and very intense. It had a very interesting story and was full of really fascinating and colourful characters and I just really enjoyed reading it.

Five Stars

A Darker Shade final for Irene

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab; Literally amazing. I cannot tell you how much I loved this story. But you can get an idea above and my review for this book will be up later on this month.
