Bout of Books 7.0 Goals & Updates!
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team.
Goals
Read at least four books; I think this may not be possible but I hope I can do it nonetheless!Participate in at least two challenges; I have always loved the challenges for this.Participate in at least one twitter chat; Definitely one of my favourite things about read-a-thons so looking forward to this.- Comment on blogs & make new blogger friends; Who doesn’t like doing this?
Monday
Number of books I’ve read today: two halves
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books: Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel (finished) and Absent by Kate Williams (started)
Tuesday
Number of books I’ve read today: 3/4
Total number of books I’ve read: 1 3/4
Books: Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel (finished), Absent by Kate Williams (finished) and Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer (started).
thoughts: I really loved Absent. It made me cry and it was only 180pages long but it killed me and I just found it really great! I struggled to put Spirit down as I am SO drawn in. I actually think I’d faint if I ever met Brigid Kemmerer! Hoping to finish this one today, if not to just get very far through it!
Wednesday
Number of books I’ve read today: 1/2
Total number of books I’ve read: 2 1/4
Books: Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel (finished), Absent by Kate Williams (finished) and Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer (continued)
Thursday
Number of books I’ve read today: 1/2
Total number of books I’ve read: 2 3/4
Books: Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel (finished), Absent by Kate Williams (finished), Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer (finished) and Evanescent by Gabriella Lepore (started)
thoughts: I LOVED Spirit. Like, really, really, really, LOVED IT. I had a major book hangover when I finished it and had to do lots of different things before I could start Evanescent. I’m still thinking about it as well which is just… interesting! I am also really liking Evanescent so far! I’m about 10% into the book and am finding it really compelling and interesting and great. Looking forward to hopefully finishing it today or early on tomrrow. I also did a mini-challenge yesterday meaning I’m really going through my goals, yay!
Friday
Number of books I’ve read today: 1
Total number of books I’ve read: 3 3/4
Books: Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel (finished), Absent by Kate Williams (finished), Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer (finished), Evanescent by Gabriella Lepore (finished) and Screaming Staircase; Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud (started)
Thoughts: I really enjoyed Evanescent! It was really fast-paced, had a really great plot and just reminded me why I really like Gabriella Lepore! I have only just started Screaming Staircase but I am thoroughly enjoying it already and I really can’t wait to read on and see where this book takes me! I also realised I haven’t quite read 4 books yet so if I want to hit 5, I have to finish this one and half of another so as I have work today and will be travelling by bus and my ARC is huge and heavy, I’m going to take a different book with me to work. I just haven’t decided which yet!
Saturday
Number of books I’ve read today: 3/4
Total number of books I’ve read: 4 1/2
Books: Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel (finished), Absent by Kate Williams (finished), Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer (finished), Evanescent by Gabriella Lepore (finished), Screaming Staircase; Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud (started) and One Seriously Messed-Up Week in the otherwise Mundane and Uneventful Life of Jack Samsonite by Tom Clempson (started).
thoughts: I was supposed to only start One Seriously Messed-Up Week on the bus to and from work but as soon as I started reading this story, I realised that I was completely and utterly hooked and there was nothing I could do except continue to read. I ended up reaching to about 75% before the day ended! I now hope to finish the last of it today and hopefully finish Lockwood & Co as well but I also have household chores to do so I’m not sure I’ll accomplish both but I hope I do! On the other hand, I have completed THREE of my FOUR goals. I feel very proud of this :D

Mini-Challenges
Acrostic Poem!
This mini-challenge was hosted by Harley Bear Book Blog and I stumbled across the challenge just after finishing the simply stunning Spirit! Thus… my poem is kind of um… gushing :D.
Book Spine Poetry!
Hosted by Smash Attack Reads! I didn’t realise this was a genre specific spine poetry until AFTER I’d made my poem but on reflection could say that they’re all YA and could all (kind of) be described as Fantasy so wooo! It works… hopefully. :P
Hidden Among Us, Inside Out;
The Lost Girl.
The Girl with the Iron Touch.
Gone. Forever.

I’m liking it thus far but have only been reading it at work so not that far into it yet!
Rachelia (Bookish Comforts)
Ahh Faye, The Time Traveller’s Wife is so good (well, except for the epilogue. I have a hate on for epilogues, haha)! The Screaming Staircase sounds really interesting too! Good luck on your goals & happy reading!

I’m reading the time travellers wife at work so not that far into it yet but I’m enjoying it thus far. Have seen the film too but doing everything I can to eradicate it from my mind while I read!
Screaming Staircase is also good so far, look out for full review on the blog :D

Thanks Mel! I am very impressed with myself as I’ve been in a semi-reading slump! :D
Sarah @ Flood of Books, etc.
Great job! Your reading list looks really good. I had not heard much about Spirit or Evanescent, but I want to add them to my TBR now.
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
You definitely should! Hehe. Spirit is the third book in a series but does work as a stand alone as well but I would highly recommend the whole series!
Thanks for stopping by :)
Ellie
Your readthon is going really well! I’m too distracted by the internet during readathons these days to get any serious reading time in.
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
I’ve kinda picked the best books as they’ve all hooked me and made me want to ignore the internet! Wooo! Which is even better considering I was struggling to read a few weeks prior :)
Vicky Hooper
Wow you’re steaming ahead with your goals! Go you! :-D Spirit sounds really good, will have to add it to the TBR pile. Hope you enjoy The Time Traveller’s Wife, such a lovely and moving book, and make sure you have tissues standing by when you read it. Won’t tell you whether they are sad or happy cries though… :-)
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
Thanks Vicky! I’m quite proud of myself as I usually don’t reach all my goals but think I can for this one! :D
I have seen the film but I’m just trying to ignore it while I read! Not far into it but enjoying thus far :)

You’re doing great with accomplishing your goals! I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on Time Traveler’s Wife, I had a love/hate relationship with that book. :) Have not seen the movie though. I’m already an email, Facebook and twitter follower and now follow via G+ too. Good luck with your last day of reading! Here are my Bout of Books Read-a-thon Goals and Updates if you’d like to stop by.
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
Thanks Tanya! I’m a little way into it thus far ans I’m liking it. I have seen the film myself but just trying to put it to the back of my brain while I read. Will let you know what I think as a whole soon :)
