The History Keepers; Circus Maximus Book Launch + GIVEAWAY
Hey Guys!
So you may or may not have seen me talking about it on twitter but on Wednesday 5th September I went to the book launch of Damian Dibben’s second book, The History Keepers; Circus Maximus.
In short, I really enjoyed the evening, it was entertaining, fun and it was just really great to see Damian again.
You may remember that in June I actually went to one of Damian’s book tour days so that I could write this post on ‘A Day in the Life of an Author’.
I also reviewed Damian’s first book; The History Keepers; The Storm Begins on this very blog and that review can be found here.
Needless to say, with how much I loved the first book, and also because of how lovely Damian is, when I found out about the book launch of his second book, it was impossible to turn the opportunity down.
Of course, as this was my first book launch, I wasn’t entirely certain of what to expect but the turn-out was really good, really busy and it was just so great to see how many great fans Damian has – and he deserves them all!
Ignore the odd placement of this Ancient Roman next to the Game of Thrones stand and let us pretend he is standing behind the big poster of The History Keepers; Circus Maximus as he was when I first descended the steps in Waterstones to get to the book launch. This sight instantly brought a smile to my face and it was just great to see. Throughout the evening the crowd gathered took lots of photos with this guy, some even with them wearing his helmet – unfortunately I didn’t get any photos like this!
The second thing I noticed was the fairly large queue of people waiting to get their copies of Damian’s book signed by the very man himself. It is also nice to tell you all that he actually ended up signing away until the very end of the launch – I actually had the last book he signed – that I’m aware of – before he started to mingle more with the crowd.
Halfway through the event, Damian and his agent made a lovely speech about the book and about the turn-out and the event. It was brilliant to witness and he definitely made me chuckle a few times. Then of course, he got right back on with signing the dozens of copies of books that came across his table.
It was so lovely to see him again and nice to have a little chat with him. I didn’t get to speak with him too much but it was still great to go and I could tell that he certainly had enough people to talk to! The first time I went up to get my book signed, I took my copy of The History Keepers; Circus Maximus in which he wrote a really nice dedication to me. I will be treasuring that book for a long time.
The second (and last) time I went up to get a book signed I took a newly purchased copy of The History Keepers; The Storm Begins which he signed without a personal dedication as this book I bought for you. As I love this book, and this author, I am hosting a giveaway for this signed copy so that you can get your hands on this amazing book! For more details on this giveaway, look below.
Lastly, I just want to mention that along with thoroughly enjoying myself on Wednesday and being really glad to go, I am also thoroughly enjoying The History Keepers: Circus Maximus, which is definitely better than the first book. I haven’t yet finished it – or not while I write this post anyway! – but it is definitely a treat. Look out for my review in the upcoming weeks!
So you want to win a signed copy of The History Keepers; The Storm Begins? Good! You’ve come to the right place.

Wow, I just read your review Faye and this series sounds fascinating. Im actually just reading a Buffy tie in novel on historical time travel, what a coincidence!
The event sounded like it was lots of fun. I haven’t gotten to meet many authors, other than a local one when I was younger, so that would be fun! I also loved the costumes actor – that was a nice touch!
Im also entering your giveaway for the lovely signed book – how thoighful of you to get one for your readers.

Wow, these books sound amazing. I haven’t read any of them yet. I do love history and fantasy though! I’ve never been to any author events actually. It’s too nerve-wracking for me:D

I had an opportunity to go see Richelle Mead but at the last minute I had a family emergency. Other than that I have not been to an author event. :(
Thanks for the giveaway.

Yes, I have been to quite a few author events. They are usually pretty entertaining. I’d go to more of them if I could.

Loved your review. I probably would have given this series a pass if I hadn’t read it. Now I want to win this!
Giveaways are a great way to try new books and reviews introduce me to new authors to follow.
I have been to many author signings and appearances. They are a lot of fun and you never know who you might bump into!
Thanks for thinking of us readers and getting a signed copy to win. I am crossing fingers and toes.

There are no book signings in my (very small) country, so there is no way I will ever attend one.. But I can always hope! We have airplanes after all :)
