Weekly Highlights

Weekly Highlights; The First In A While Edition

weekly highlights

Weekly Highlights is a new feature here at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts and will be a post highlighting things that happened on and off the blog. It is inspired by The Story Sirens In My Mailbox, Books, Biscuit and Tea’s Showcase Sunday, Kimba Caffeinated’s Sunday Post, and the British Letterbox Love.

In the feature I won’t mention everything I received, nor every post I wrote during the week but will simply feature a selection of things I wish to spotlight a second time around.

Post Highlights

Hey all!
I feel like it’s been ages since I did one of these but it probably wasn’t that long ago but as blogging as been put in the background of the things I need to do this month, it just feels like forever. Anyway, onto the blog and what’s been happening recently!

I’ve posted ONE review in the last few weeks;
Lockwood & Co; The Whispering Skull by Jonathan Stroud (THREE HEARTS)

I’ve participated in two top ten posts;
Top Ten Halloween Reads
Top Ten Boks I Want to Re-Read

I talked about movies twice;
Must See Teen Movies
Halloween; Top Ten “Horror” Movies

And I participated in two blog tours;
Cloven by Georgeann Swiger
The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell

And last, but certainly not least, I posted my October Monthly Wrap-Up.

NaNoWriMo

Nano2014

This month I am participating in NaNoWriMo again and aim to write 50,000 words on my WIP novel. But, because I’ve announced this, I thought I would also tell you each week how I’m actually getting on with it – and hopefully this will help me from slacking behind but who knows!

So, the target for today is 15000

My word count is currently 8638. This means I am 6362 words behind. I can get all those words written today though, right?

If you’re doing NaNo, how are you doing?

Around the Blogosphere

This week Lucy has admitted one of her reading habits. Find out what it is and let her know if you do it too, here.

Are you someone who likes comments or pageviews? This week Amber has discussed this very topic. Find out her views and add your own on this post.

This week Jim has been doing some fab YAAtoZ posts on his blog but I just want to point to one in particular that I loved because I also love this author and think she deserves a lot more recognition. To find out the author in question and why Jim likes her, click here.

Last week (the week before?) I went to a lovely blogger tea with Zoe Marriott, but I never found the time to do a write-up of the event. Fortunately Michelle did. Read more about the event here.

If there is one thing I know about, it is the distraction of TV Shows. This week Caitlin has written a post about the top ten tv shows that have been distracting her. Read the fab post by clicking here.

Lastly I want to point to an amazing post on NaNoWriMo tips but most importantly writing tips. These are amazing points. Read them. Live Them. Learn Them. Or you know, bend them! Find them here.

Letterbox Love

I’ve not been great at keeping a record of all the books I’ve been receiving in last few weeks so here’s just a few of the highlights that I remember!

Captive The Last Leaves Falling Love Hurts The Book of Storms

Captive by A. J. Grainger; I actually heard about this from other bloggers but it sounds really fascinating. Thank you to Simon & Schuster for this review copy!

The Last Leaves Falling by Sarah Benwell; This is one that I knew I wanted to read as soon as I heard about it and now that everyone is raving about it, I really want to read it even more. Thank you to Random House for this review copy!

Love Hurts by Malorie Blackman; Whatever Malorie Blackman writes or edits will be added to my TBR pile and this book is no exception. I cannot wait to dive into this and see what it is like! Thank you again to Random House for this review copy!

The Book of Storms by Ruth Hatfield; This book has been raved about to me by a good friend and so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. It sounds really, really good and I cannot wait to read it. Thank you to Hot Key Books for this review copy.

Prisoner of night and fog My True Love Gave To Me Rooms The Year I Met You

Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman; This book has been on my radar for a while – including a book club book suggestion a while back! – so I’m really glad I finally got my hands on it and can’t wait to read it – maybe for book club! Thank you to Headline for this review copy.

My True Love Gave To Me by Stephanie Perkins; This book is sooo gorgeous and I love the idea of short holiday stories – something that isn’t done a lot in YA – so I cannot wait to read this.

Rooms by Lauren Oliver; Ghosts? Lauren Oliver? YES PLEASE. I’ve been dying to get my hands on this book since May so to finally have it is amazing. I really hope this book will be one I read very soon.

The Year I Met You by Cecelia Ahern; If you don’t know by now, Cecelia Ahern is one of my favourite authors ever, so whenever she releases a new book, I need to read it. While I haven’t read her entire collection, I have read a vast majority of it. Needless to say, I cannot wait to read this one!

Currently Reading

I read a few books at a time so I have decided that I want to showcase them a little on the blog and so from now on I thought I would tell you all what I’m currently reading (on Saturday/Sunday!)
