Weekly Highlights; The LGBT Readathon Edition
In the feature I won’t mention everything I received, nor every post I wrote during the week but will simply feature a selection of things I wish to spotlight a second time around.
Post Highlights
This week has been another busy one both on the blog and off the blog. I’ve also been feeling incredibly tired lately, more than I normally do and so I’m taking some steps to feel more awake. Mostly I think I’m probably not getting enough protein and carbs into my diet while I’m running for long distances so I need to rectify that. We’ll see how next week goes, eh?
As for blog…
I posted TWO reviews this week;
The Happy Ever Afterlife of Rosie Potter by Kate Winter (FOUR HEARTS)
The IT Girl by Katy Birchall (THREE HEARTS)
This week was also the LGBT Readathon week! I think it’s gone really smoothly and was really successful and I’m just really pleased and happy. I was going to keep daily updates but life got a bit busy. Instead I’ve added a few in last night, you can see them here and my wrap up will go live tomorrow.
I also posted a post about how I deal with stress. Find out some tips on Beating the Stress here.
Blogger Spotlight
Yesterday I announced my new Blogger Spotlight. To find out why I chose Daniel and to find out why you should follow him and his blog, click here.
Around the Blogosphere
So I’ve made this blog be more of a lifestyle blog and with that transition has come a fascination in non-bookish posts. This week I really liked Sofia’s post here, which is about five things she wants to do this summer.
In a similar vein, Amber has written a post on her top five things on her bucket list. I love them all. Check it out here.
Gaby has written a wonderful post about little moments having big impacts on our life. To read her words and join the discussion, I advice you to click here.
There’s also been an interesting campaign surrounding the book, More Happy Than Not. I loved Ginger‘s post on the things that make her more happy than not. You can read it and add to the discussion by clicking here.
One of the books I am really excited to read and keep seeing everywhere is An Ember in the Ashes. (I actually hope to start this tomorrow!) So when I stumbled across this five star review, I couldn’t help but share it! Rosie clearly loves this book which has made me much more excited.
I love tags on youtube and this week Asti has done a tag on the blog which I absolutely love – and will probably end up doing myself. It’s all about the covers on the books. You can look at her stunning photography and her great commentary in this post.
If you like contemporary books than I highly recommend this post that Amanda has written this week. It’s about the popular and underrated contemp books she has read and reviewed.
This week Dragana has written a great post on five tips to review books quicker. If that sounds good to you click here to read on.
Letterbox Love
I went a little overboard at the library this week but I couldn’t help it, so many amazing books came in.
Me Being Me Is Exactly As Insane As You Being You by Todd Hasak-Lowry; Holly from Books, Music and Tea put this book on my radar. It has an incredibly long title but it sounds like such an intriguing read. Looking forward to seeing if I enjoy this book, although I am a little scared of the size – eeek.
Hamish and the World Stoppers by Danny Wallace; I’ve heard great things about this one from my good friend Daphne. It looks great and I’m interested to see if the story is as fab as she insists it is.
Be Safe I Love You by Cara Hoffman; I stumbled across this one, loved the cover and so read the synopsis and just got hooked. It sounds so fascinating and I am looking forward to reading it.
When We Were Friends by Tina Seskis; This is one of those books that I saw, read the synopsis and just thought it sounded great. I know nothing about this book and know no one who has read it so I’m intrigued to see what it is like.
The Last Summer of Us by Maggie Harcourt; So many people have been raving about this one and it’s a ROAD TRIP book so I am super excited to read it.
How I Lost You by Jenny Blackhurst; Jess from Jess Hearts Books got me interested in this one! I had it on my radar already and then she told me she loved it so I couldn’t resist seeing if I felt the same way.
Sister Noon by Karen Joy Fowler; I loved We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen and despite this being a historical read, I’m interested to see if I enjoy this one.
Hook’s Daughter by Heidi Schulz; I saw this a while ago and I thought it looked really interesting. I love Peter Pan and Peter Pan adaptations so I’m looking forward to seeing if I like this one!
Dreamsnatcher by Abi Elphinstone; I have heard so many things about this book from many different bloggers and I’m looking forward to seeing if I like it too.
Day Four by Sarah Lotz; I really enjoyed the first book in this series and cannot wait to see what this book is all about!
