Thursday’s Special Spotlight; Saving June by Hannah Harrington
Thursday’s Special Spotlight is a new feature here at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts. It is inspired by her library’s “Book of the Week” and Stepping out of the Page’s From the Review Pile. It also stems from how far behind I am on writing reviews and how guilty I often feel about it!
The idea of this feature is to spotlight books that I read e-ons ago that I absolutely loved and I feel deserve the spotlight on this blog! They will be accompanied with reasons as to why I loved them and why I think you should read them.
This week’s spotlight is Saving June by Hannah Harrington
This is a book that is full of heart. It really gets into the nitty gritty of things, while also giving you a light, humurous tale. The subject matter that Hannah deals with is not something to be taken lightly and she certainly doesn’t do so, there is a considerable amount of care that has gone into this book. I loved the music references, but also the music quotes and I found that I was truly able to connect with all the words on the page. I could understand Harper, Laney, and Jake. I adored the friendship between Harper and Laney, and loved the blossoming friendship of them both to Jake. It was such a nice thing to read about and really made this book glow.
Why Should You Read Saving June?
I know that this book may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you love contemporaries, road trips, great friendships, and lovely romances then you really should pick this book up. It is a fun, emotional, powerful book that I am certain you will fall in love with as many others have before you. This book shows how we can pick ourselves up after something terrible has happened to us, especially with the helping hands of friends. It shows that everyone is unique and we should accept everyones flaws – even if it’s something as silly as loving rap music – because it is usually this which helps us to be everything we are. It is a novel that is full of love and will make you feel so full of warmth when you finally close the last page.
But don’t just take my word for it! Here’s some actual reviews of this amazing book by other bloggers;

I absolutely adore Saving June! I completely agree with everything you’ve said about it, it’s one of those books that everyone really should read, especially if they’re a huge fan of contemporary YA. Thank you for linking my review in this post too – I wasn’t expecting it haha.

Argh, I really loved this one and never reviewed it! And while I wanted to know a bit more about June because I felt like she held the missing link to my emotional connection to this book, I still really enjoyed it. Loved the road trip aspect of it and all of the music. Maybe I should reread sometime so that I can actually review it?
Faye (Daydreaming_Star)
I agree, but I also feel like June was only important in bringing the characters together. Yes! You should re-read it! I know I want to!
