Interview

Catriona Tells All!

Hey Guys!
So today we have the lovely Catriona from Fabulous Book Fiend. She is here for you today with an interview. All of the bloggers I contacted were given the same questions as I thought it would be fun to get different opinions on the same things.
Hope you enjoy all of the questions and all of the answers.

The summer is often a great time for reading. What are five books you would recommend others to read this summer?

This summer I would recommend the Cora Carmack novels, I loved both of these and her novella is coming out in August so definitely a good idea to get caught up on these first. I would also recommend The Naughty Girls Book Club by Sophie Hart. This has just come out in paperback and has everything you could want from a summer novel! My third recommendation would be Geek Girl by Holly Smale, it’s great fun and definitely something to keep you entertained over the summer. Fourth has to be Never Google Heartbreak by Emma Garcia, this came out earlier on this year and is just fabulous! Finally I would recommend Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger, I’ve been waiting for this sequel for a long time and it’s finally here!

While our wishlists are already towering over, are they any new releases happening this summer that you’re really looking forward to?

I’m very excited to read Lindsey Kelk’s new book, About a Girl, I love her writing a dim looking forward to meeting her again at her signing! I’m also looking forward to Its Raining Men by Milly Johnson. Its being released on Yorkshire day which I love too (being a Yorkshire lass myself) and I’m hoping to go to the launch of this one! Finding Colin Firth is the Second novel by Mia March and I loved the Meryl Streep Movie Club, so really looking forward to this one!

Sometimes the weather can turn a little dreadful. Are they any books you would recommend to read to counteract this weather?

The weather can be really horrible in the summer, I think to counteract this one, you need something light or something set aboard! I think a travelogue is also good for these times, anything by Bill Bryson is wonderful to read when it’s miserable outside. You could catch up with Paige Toon‘s back catalogue, all of which have just been released with new covers, she does escapism from this British weather exceptionally well. I also find Jane Costello and Jenny Colgan very funny, so any of their books take away from the fact that its miserable outside by putting a smile on your face!

Name your top three authors.

You know this is the hardest questions! Ok here goes………….
Rowan Coleman
Lindsey Kelk
Sophie Kinsella

When it comes to blogging, are you someone who posts spontaneously or do you schedule ahead?

I have to schedule ahead, I need to have things planned out. I’m a teacher, it’s how I work. I’m very autistic when it comes to organisation so I like to have the next week all scheduled and planned by the time Sunday night rolls around! I’m currently quite a bit ahead with posts, this makes me happy…

What are your three favourite reviews that you have written since you started blogging

Ok my top three reviews, the first has got to be the first review that I wrote, The Loveliest Chocolate shop in Paris by Jenny Colagn.
Another review I really enjoyed writing was The Bow Wow Club by Nicola May. She sent me a review copy of this new one, she knows I’m a big fan so I felt quite a lot of pressure writing it, bit was pleased with the result…
The final review that I really enjoyed writing was The Kissing Booth by Beth Reeckles. I was really hoping to love this book and I honestly did, so the review was really really fun to write and tweet afterwards!

catriona Although I have a busy career as a teacher, working to develop children’s maths and literacy skills, I still find time to do a lot of reading, and love sharing the books that I find interesting through my blog, Fabulous Book Fiend. I like constructing the reviews and love the fact that Twitter allows me to share my blog with other, as well as the authors of the book. My own blog is still quite new, having contributed to another blog for about a year, but I am loving having my own space to do author interviews, features, lists and reviews. I’m a big fan of chick lit, but I try and mix it up with a few different genres on there too, mystery/crime excluded, it just doesn’t float my boat.

Thank you so much for the wonderful answers Catriona! It was really nice to get to know you a little better and to get some good recommendations for the summer! Have you read any of the books that Catriona recommended? Or do you think you now will?
