Waiting on Wednesday #8

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine where you can spotlight a book that you’re giddy with excitment to read so that other people can be giddy with excitement too :)

As I run a book and film blog, I do this meme including books and films that I am waiting on. This week I have two books for your viewing pleasure and one film. Hope that you like them too! :D

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris’s initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth’s much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Summary: (Goodreads)
Sixteen-year-old Lex Bartleby has sucker-punched her last classmate. Fed up with her punkish, wild behavior, her parents ship her off to upstate New York to live with her Uncle Mort for the summer, hoping that a few months of dirty farm work will whip her back into shape. But Uncle Mort’s true occupation is much dirtier than that of shoveling manure.

He’s a Grim Reaper. And he’s going to teach her the family business.

Lex quickly assimilates into the peculiar world of Croak, a town populated entirely by reapers who deliver souls from this life to the next. Along with her infuriating yet intriguing partner Driggs and a rockstar crew of fellow Grim apprentices, Lex is soon zapping her Targets like a natural born Killer.

Yet her innate ability morphs into an unchecked desire for justice—or is it vengeance?—whenever she’s forced to Kill a murder victim, craving to stop the attackers before they can strike again. So when people start to die—that is, people who aren’t supposed to be dying, people who have committed grievous crimes against the innocent—Lex’s curiosity is piqued. Her obsession grows as the bodies pile up, and a troubling question begins to swirl through her mind: if she succeeds in tracking down the murderer, will she stop the carnage—or will she ditch Croak and join in?

Why?: Well, Insurgent is a novel I have been waiting on since I finished Divergent and since I just finished writing (and posting) my review I figured that this week was the best time to put it into my waiting on meme! I simply cannot wait for the second installment to come out. I am literally waiting with abaited breath!!
Croak I have seen around for a while now and every time I see that cover, I am reminded of how much I want to read the book that goes along with it! I mean… just look at that summary! Doesn’t it just sound amazing? I certainly think so! I haven’t read many Grim Reaper stories but this one sounds like it’s going to be stella!

Title: Les Adoptes (The Adopted)
Release Date: (UK) Feb 24th 2012
Director: Melanie Laurent
Why?: Generally speaking, I am a sucker for all things Foreign, and this film certainly looks like one I want to see. It just looks so rich of emotion with some heavy themes running through it. I’ve seen some fairly decent French films recently and I’m hoping that this one is just as good! :-)
