Weekly Highlights; The Winters Respite Edition
Weekly Highlights is a new feature here at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts and will be a post highlighting things that happened on and off the blog. It is inspired by The Story Sirens In My Mailbox, Books, Biscuit and Tea’s Showcase Sunday, Kimba Caffeinated’s Sunday Post, and the British Letterbox Love.
In the feature I won’t mention everything I received, nor every post I wrote during the week but will simply feature a selection of things I wish to spotlight a second time around.
Post Highlights
I wrote one review this week;
Now Is Good by Jenny Downham (THREE HEARTS)
This week I wrote about the Oscar Nominations and highlighted who I would like to win – while also guessing who is more likely to win. Check it out and have your say here
For Top Ten Tuesday this week I listed the top settings I’d like to see more of, or rather, read more of. Check those out here and have your say!
We all have those little habits we deal with when it comes to reading so I compiled a post for you of my reading habits or, as I like to call them, quirks! Feel free to check out the post here and tell me what your habits are!
My Thursday Special Spotlight this week was Boys Don’t Cry by Malorie Blackman. Click here to see why I reckon you should pick this book up and read it as soon as possible.
The Behind the Blog topic this week was ghosts, you can find out all about my ghostly experiences as well as some of my favourite ghost-centered films and books by clicking here
Around the Blogosphere
This week Cait over at Cait Files wrote a post about gender stereotyping the YA market. Head over here to check out this really interesting, well-written post and have your say on the discussion.
New Adult is all over the place at the moment and Lucy at ChooseYA has told us all about her thoughts on the up and coming category. Head here to check it out.
If you’re looking for some entertainment this week, why not have a look at the ten worst book covers in the history of literature. I have to admit, I laughed at a few of these!
Cheryl Rainfield wrote a lovely blog post on the Insecurity of the Fiction Writer which I really agreed with. If you’re a writer, you should definitely check this out.
Letterbox Love
Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Narratively Speaking where UK-based bloggers can highlight the books they’ve recieved each week. And here is what I got;
**photos to come later, having a few issues**
Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffiths; This was a signed copy gifted to me by the lovely Jen at At Random to cheer me up when I was going through a tough patch. She is so genuinely awesome <3
The Holders by Julianna Scott; This is an advance copy from Strange Chemistry and am really looking forward to reading! It sounds like the kind of book that I’ll really enjoy :-)
Pantomime by Laura Lam; This was a surprise copy from Strange Chemistry. I have heard so much about this book though and I cannot wait to get stuck in! It sounds like just my kind of thing!
A $100 Amazon Gift Card; A giveaway win from Novel Publicity! I am very grateful for this but now need to contain myself from buying ALL the books. haha.
I hope to visit all posts of this manner, so feel free to link to your own IMMs, Sunday Showcase, Sunday Posts, Letterbox Loves or whatever it is you do below!
what did you get this week? what cool blog posts did you stumble upon? what are you waiting to happen this week?
