April Monthly Wrap Up

Monthly Highlights

My mind is going crazy over the fact that we’ve reached the end of April. Because… seriously? I have done SO MUCH in April and I cannot quite believe how much, and essentially, how little I managed to squeeze into one little month!
I went to the London Book Fair (which already feels like a distant memory!) and it was AWESOME! Maybe not as good as last year, but still amazing.
We had EASTER and so I spent quite a bit of time with family which is always really fun and lovely.
It was also my mum’s birthday so we went to Portsmouth for the day and even went up the Spinaker Tower! OH MY.
And, most importantly, I moved HOUSE. Like… gah. I’m almost completely officially moved in and that is hella scary – and obviously hella awesome too! I still have SO MUCH unpacking to do, and I still need to get the internet sorted but I’m there and most of my stuff is there and it’s all just insane and wonderful all at once!
Blogging wise, I had to take a step back due to internet restrictions and being busy unpacking, but I think I still had a fairly good month! I’m probably going to still be posting little next month as I still need to do my blog tlc!!

I am so behind on my youtube channel that I posted my March Wrap-Up video yesterday… BUT I have been getting a handful of new followers and I have plans to film lots of videos in May to make up for it! Hopefully that’ll make everything better there. I did however post two videos for Bookish Brits this month – yay!

Bookish events I attended this month obviously include London Book Fair which was absolutely fantastic! I had a brilliant time on all three days and am just super glad that I went! I hope to do a full write up of the event or at least a few posts about the seminars I went to in the next month but we shall just have to see how it goes! The highlight of the event was definitely hearing Malorie Blackman talk in two panels and getting a chance to meet her again – talk about nerves! eeek! I also got to hand out my business card to people which was really fun!
I also went to the first #DrinkYA which was really fun. It was quite crowded and a little awkward at the start but then everyone got drinking and chatting about books and that made it so much better! It was a great way to meet new people and I’m really looking forward to #PicnicYA in May! Look to @yayeahyeah on twitter for more information about it!

Non-Bookish events I attended this month include the chocolate festival which was such a weird and wonderful experience! I went with Debbie, Daphne, and Stacey and it was just really great! I tried some super tasty gluten free items – like macarons! – and it was just so much fun. Afterwards we treated ourselves to mexican and then a second hand bookshop where all the books were just £1! Needless to say I bought a lot! I also had afternoon tea with the same ladies as above and Cait and Caroline. It was really tasty and a lovely experience. I also went and saw Divergent and thought it was such a wonderful film and a brilliant adaptation! I was hoping to get a review up but it didn’t happen. Maybe when the DVD comes out and people can actually buy it! I also went and saw Captain America 2 and thought it was aamazing! I can’t help it, I just love all the Avenger movies!

I read eight books this month and I’m rather proud of that! I wasn’t expecting to read anywhere near that many so I’m really glad that I managed to do that. Next month I am aiming to read mostly library books and netgalley books! We’ll just have to see how that goes…

Favourite Book

Once again this was one really hard month to choose as I loved EVERY book I read and gave three of them five stars! But eventually I decided to choose The Forever Song because this book was just THE best ending to a trilogy that I’ve read in a really long time. The book stuck with me, it made me feel all the emotions, and it was just perfect in every which way. But, the runner ups were Vicious and Glaze, both of which are AMAZING books that I couldn’t stop thinking about for DAYS after I read them. But as The Forever Song was brilliant in many different ways it just beat them. This series is simply spectacular and incredibly well-written and just shows how absolutely amazing Julie Kagawa really is. Seriously, can I just live in her head, please? If you haven’t yet read this series, I honestly urge you to do so RIGHT NOW.

BEA

What? What’s that? Oh yes, I shelled out a LOT of money last month because I am going to BEA! (Book Expo America)
I am so super excited because it is in NYC and I have NEVER been to NYC. I am also going with three AMAZING people and I get to see Gaby again AND I get to meet all of those amazing US bloggers I know AND I get to meet some INCREDIBLE authors and just…

GAH.

It’s going to be AMAZING.

So that’s what I’ll be doing in May!! :D

As mentioned previously this month is going to be dedicated to reading library books and netgalley books, and these four are the books I HAVE to read this month because I am DYING to do so!!

I’m also hoping to read another adult book, I have another book club book (not decided yet) to read, and a few more netgalley books to read! Here’s hoping I get to them all :D
