Weekly Highlights; The First of 2014 Edition

weekly highlights

Weekly Highlights is a feature here at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts and will be a post highlighting things that happened on and off the blog. It is inspired by The Story Sirens In My Mailbox, Books, Biscuit and Tea’s Showcase Sunday, Kimba Caffeinated’s Sunday Post, and the British Letterbox Love.

In the feature I won’t mention everything I received, nor every post I wrote during the week but will simply feature a selection of things I wish to spotlight a second time around.

Post Highlights

I have to say that the New Year seems to have given me a boost of motivation or something. I’ve been writing reviews left right and centre and just feel a little rejuvinated about the whole blog. While I was still posting without really scheduling things, I have this next week off and plan to schedule a fair few blog posts in advance to help me keep on top of it all. Let’s hope it goes okay!

This week I posted THREE reviews;
Faking It by Cora Carmack (FOUR HEARTS)
Finding It by Cora Carmack (THREE STARS)
True by Erin McCarthy (THREE HEARTS)

I also participated in the first top ten of the year! It was our Bookish Resolutions. To find out what I hope to achieve this year, visit the post here.

I have also been participating in Bout of Books this week and to have a look at how my updates have been going, you can look at this post. There will also be a wrap-up of this later on this evening. I’m not doing as well as I had hoped to be doing but nevermind! I’m still enjoying it!

Around the Blogosphere

Just a few posts I’ve seen around and really enjoyed.

Debbie listed all the films she’s looking forward to seeing this year. This post made me chuckle and made me aware of films I didn’t know were coming out. See all those films here.

Stacey wrote a wonderful post on John Green and how he made his way into her life, including some wonderful pictures as her blogs always are full of. If you’re a John Green fan, or even if you’re not, I would definitely suggest checking this post out.

This week Rachelia and Kaitlyn are celebrating their two-year blogoversary! They’ve got a great giveaway for it but also a lovely post detailing their journey so far. Check it all out here.

Are you thinking of booktubing? This week Amber wrote a post about how she really feels about booktubing and how it was like to start and I have to say I agree with a lot that she said. If you want to see why she loves and hates booktubing, click here.

Do you like music as well as books? This feature on Hollie’s blog highlights her favourite music at the moment and is the perfect way to find new things to listen to! Check it out here.

Lastly, Rebecca this year has written a post about non-bloggers and what they want to read about on the blog. She’s linked to two other inspiring posts as well so I think you should definitely check this out; here.

Letterbox Love

letterboxlove2

I haven’t done one of these in a while, not even on the vlog so in truth I can’t quite remember all the books I’ve recieved/bought/borrowed, so I’m just going to show you the ones that I do remember and can’t wait to read!

Secret Santa

This year, like last year, I participated in the UKYA Blogger Secret Santa! I waited until Christmas Day to open my presents as I find it a little bit more special that way. And this year, my Secret Santa (who did not reveal themselves so if it was you, THANK YOU SO MUCH!) bought me three books I have been DYING to read!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell; I have been wanting to read this one for AGES and I did so, promptly after Christmas. I devoured it quickly and enjoyed it immensely!

If I Lie by Corrine Jackson; This has been on my wishlist since I first heard about it a year or two years ago but never got around to purchasing it myself. I’m super excited to start this one!!

Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout; This is another one that has been on my wishlist for a LONG time and I am super excited to be able to start it!

The Other Life The Moth in the Mirror Sweet

The Other Life by Susanne Winnacker; This was bought for me by Debbie and has also been on my wishlist for a long time. Looking forward to reading it. Thank you Debbie!!

The Moth in the Mirror by A. G. Howard; I LOVED Splintered. Like… it was amazing. Thus, when I found out that there was a little novella, I HAD to buy it. I can’t wait to read this and once I have, Unhinged will be read!

Sweet by Erin McCarthy; After finishing True, I found out that it was a series and that Sweet was already out. It was fairly cheep and I was kind of addicted so I scooped it up and can’t wait to start it!

I know I’ve gotten more books than this since my last Book Haul but I can’t quite think what they are! I will probably be doing fortnightly book hauls now as I’m trying to cut back on how many books I actually bring into the house!

And there you have it, my Weekly Highlights!

I hope to visit all posts of this manner, so feel free to link to your own IMMs, Sunday Showcase, Sunday Posts, Letterbox Loves or whatever it is you do below!

what did you get this week? what cool blog posts did you stumble upon? what are you waiting to happen this week?
